Default Houston 4.14 review

Thank goodness for Zwan. The show was awesome. As far as I remember this was the setlist:

Endless Summer
Declarations of Faith
El Sol
edit: (how could i forget?) Love Lies in Ruin
Honestly
Lyric
Riverview
heartsong
baby lets rock
Jesus>GGSTWOF
Broken Heart
As the world goes round

Encore 1:
MSOTS

Encore 2:
SPILLED MILK YES THAT"S RIGHT THANK YOU VERY MUCH

it was an awesome, awesome show. Billy and paz didn't flirt much at all for once, matt didn't tell any dirty jokes, and dave was his usual self heh. Billy introduced him as "this is the man............Dave" and did the same thing with Matt basically. he called Paz the "wo-man". Spilled Milk was insane as usual but i liked this one better than 12.7.02 in vegas, and GGSTWOF was just incredibly intense. Sorry i just don't have the words to describe it. I thought the crowd kind of sucked but apparently Billy felt otherwise because he said that he had planned a slow sad song (don't know which) for the second encore but since we were "so great" or something he'd let us choose between that or a "hard rock song" or something. so we got spilled milk heh. Oh and I really liked the way they played heartsong...slower and with paz on violin...don't know if this is how they've been doing it recently but i think it's better than the album version. Riverview was also awesome, and most of the crowd didn't know it so noone was singing thank heavens. Although on Broken Heart Billy kept motioning for the crowd to sing louder yick. ok that's it, sorry it's so incohesive but it's been a wild night. looking forward to tomorrow in Dallas.

yeah. when i first heard heartsong on a live recording i was like, ehhhhh... but then at the live x that they did in ATL, it was great! Paz on violin makes a difference i think. the song is much better live for sure, at least now.

Rawk.

This show was totally awesome. My boyfriend and I saw them in Toronto about two weeks ago, and we thought that show was just too kick ass. See em in Houston? Fuck... I couldn't have been more wrong about the Toronto show. Now I understand what that bitch from The Star was whining about. Houston crowds are awesome, I really must tell you that. If you thought that was a weak crowd, I'd like to see what a good crowd's like.

Jesus, I kicked my ass and then some. Spilled Milk was wicked, uh... Show good

Yeah, I'm really articulate. Just drove cross country in a dying car, sorry

Yes yes... That was a rawkin' show. And Sycophant and I thought Toronto was good, but this was even better. I mean really... They did Baby Let's Rock!! And Spilled Milk!!! Ack!!

Ahem.. sorry... I know this babble is pretty inane, but what do you expect when you post right after getting home from a good show. Anywho, Junebug, where were you standing? Sycophant and I were standing to the left of the stage right along the edge of the crowd, and from where we were people really seemed into it. But then again... How much -can- you get into a show when the bouncers are like the damn Gestapo. If our feet left the ground an inch they were staring you down as if to say "You mosh you die." Pffffft... What-ev4r!

But yeah... Um... other than the show, afterwards was pretty fun too, even if Pajo didn't feel like saying 'hi'. Billy, Jimmy, and Paz shook hands, while Sweeny shook hands and handed out cookies... and we got one! w00t! It was funny, too because we yelled out "Are these 'special' cookies?" to which he replied "I wish."

Oh, and then as the bus was pulling off, they stopped at the light and opened the doors. The door guy stepped out and said "Okay, who wants to come with us?" and then when we all started rushing the door he laughed and recoiled back onto the bus. So why did they stop the bus? Why, to left off Jimmy's groupies of course. Two little blond-haired 16 year olds.

Yay for Zwan... wish I was going to the Dallas show...

~Banky

Oh yeah... I almost forgot my obligatory "who do I have to sleep with to get a recording" comment...

And another thing... Why the hell wouldn't they let me take my camera into the show just because it was digital??? Bastardos...

Thumbs up

Some more random notes....

Billy was bullshitting with 15 or so people in a little park type place across the street from the venue for about a half hour a couple hours before the show....topics ranging from music in general to zwan to the pumpkins to darcy

Paz was doing a little speaking in spanish before the first encore....but i don't speak spanish so i don't have a clue what it was....said it was "spanish secrets"

It appears that Jimmy does indeed have all aspects of the drumming game covered, from the insane fills and power right down to the ability to pick out a couple of fucking hot groupies to do his bidding.

highlights of the show - Jesus I seems to take on a bit of a different sound live...in the verse or something, or maybe i'm on crack...but definately a plus.....MSOTS...DOF is much better live....and of course Spilled Milk rocked hard. As much as I do like Love Lies in Ruin, I wish My Life and Times was their token Djalizwan song, IMO that would really make it the perfect show. Still by far the best show I've ever been to, beating out tool, early radiohead, and trail of dead. Hopefully they'll play desire and come with me tomorrow night in dallas.

Also, this just in, Paz has an incredible ass, that is all.

no . I didn't even think about it until this morning. It's really almost enough to make you go to the other show. Heyyy maybe that was the slow sad song he was going to play instead of Spilled Milk. Hmm. dang it.

I wouldn't consider Don't Let Me Down a "slow sad song", maybe he was referring to A New Poetry.

That set list looks a little short compared to other shows; no Settle Down or Yeah. Hopefully, the Dallas show will be a little longer.

hmm maybe you're right. Oh and they did play Settle Down, sorry I forgot...it was great heh. What happend to my memory dude...i've probably forgotten some others. Who else is going to the dallas show? I'm kind of thinking about not going now...I won't know anyone there and last night the show was so great i'm still on a high, don't want to have an emotional breakdown like the last time i went to a show alone. how embarrasing.

It was actually one of the longer shows. Looking at the spfc tour archive, it seems most of the shows so far have been under 100 minutes (if only by 5-10 minutes). I have last night at 101 minutes, so....

I made it to the park to see Billy right as he was finishing. What all did he say? It's pretty crazy that he talked about D'arcy.
