they are supposed to be one of those "new york strikes back!" bands with the walkmen and the strokes and all those other crap bands that are just following the same formula.

roofle. I think the best NY bands are Rainer Maria, Miracle of 86, Nada Surf, French Kicks and Prosaics.

not yet. i bought 'kevin kolankoswski' when i saw them, and d/led the s/t. I looked on soulseek but didn't see the new one. no $= no new cds since august for me.

a lot of people follow the same formula, but aren't necessarily bad bands. I don't think they sound anything like any of the bands you named. But that's just me

I don't know, that's why I like all those bands so much. It's cos they don't follow the formula. No one else sounds like RM. No one else sounds like Nada Surf. The other bands are taking 'garage rock' to new territory and are being innovative. Hell, French Kicks sound more similar to spoon than the strokes most of the time. I just didn't like longwave when i saw them and i thought they sounded like a strokes ripoff. I don't like the strokes or most garage rock anyway, so my perception of them is probably off.

I really just got into Nada Surf again. I really like their latest album. I was actually shocked at how good it was.

yeah i got a longwave sticker after a strokes concert in DC

the sticker is sweet.
i doubt i'll listen to the band.

the walkmen and the strokes used to play alot of shows with each other and i believe longwave before they all "broke." actually i don't think the walkmen have done all that well but well enough. eh i'm too tired to explain myself. i'm right.
