Listened to every song once and in my humble imo I just thought the whole thing was inoffensive and bland, with no standouts good or bad.

As for the whole synth thing, this has been said a lot, but I can't help but feel there's a ton of bands out there playing a much better, more intriguing and engaging version of what was attempted on this album.
Which leaves me thinking that maybe i'm just done with the pumpkins and even if they were putting out their best music now maybe i'd just not be into it even still.

Maybe not classic but we all want to get our hands on the Machina reissue. Look no further than the 100 page Machina thread and most netphorians love Adore. My point is both of these albums were extremely polarizing when they came out, much like CYR. Now they are embraced and even considered some of SP's best work. Both having songs in most fans top 10.

I was here when Adore was released and most people loved it. It was commercially disappointing maybe. But I never once was disappointed with it. Thought it was a classic the moment I heard it.

As i said 20 plodding synth songs.
It is obvious why sp get bad reviews... i understand it.
Save your tears is the only song where u could think that there is a band
I bet james contributions are so minimal..

I like it, but the world is laughing their ass off

9 out of 10? seems insane. 9 out of 10 is like PI or Adore

machina is like 7. machina II maybe an 8.

gish somewhere in there

if you truly like it as much as PI then I am glad

I wouldnt class Zeitgeist as a BC solo album though. It very prominently features Jimmy.

I’d maybe, MAYBE rate Cyr higher than TFE, Oceania, Teargarden, MTAE, Shiny , Cotillions. But that is only based on a few listens and me removing half of the tracklisting. In a month I might feel differently.

I still feel that TFE was a stronger album than Cyr and much more forward thinking with the electronics than this album.

I agree, but i'd give a 7/10 if not an 8/10.

Billy sings with his “new” voice on TFE and there isn’t a single song I enjoy. I would rank it worse than Teargarden and way at the bottom of anything Corgan has produced.

It was nowhere close to Kid A / Amnesiac etc

Let's do it. The 7/10 people here make me expect glorious songs, each 10/10 since the 3 tracks I heard weeks ago were somewhere in the 1/10 league.

I can't stand the album of TFE songs and never could.
Are any live/acoustic versions of the new songs around, radio promo sessions maybe?

I like the overall vibe, some of the songs I really don't care for, some I quite like. Maybe one or two I'll play on rotation. But I don't too much like Billy's wordiness and annunciation. Jimmy's style is pretty obvious in most tracks, but also there are some that are way too generic for my liking. I like what they were trying to do, but I think they went too far. It would have been nice for a little more variation. Am I disappointed that drumming is more Adore than Gish, yeah, kinda. But it's not so offensive that I'm close to giving up on the band or what not, but I do understand the urge towards that feeling.

Anyway, I'll give it a couple more spins.

Opening track is great. Mina Loy. Pretty pretty star. And the closing track Strayz is one of his most beautiful and honest songs. Sorry but I vehemently disagree with you and in the words of Greatvegetable you’re an utter fuckpig and risible cunt! j/k

It's funny you say that brother because I was going through all the lyrics last night. Wrath is pretty straight forward with Heaven, and the Judgement. Also Shaudenfreud has some good references to Jesus "Round the hills of our Lord and hollows In sacrifice of His own" and when he says "like a lion I will track our rulers" . Not as much as I thought. I think there is more references to greek mythology and tarot cards from what people are saying but I don't know much about either of those.

This is an insane opinion. Teargarden was clearly and obviously his worst work ever.
