thing is, i hate myself. and i love jimmy. ever since i started drumming, i think i was just trying to be anyone but myself. dave grohl at first. then i listened to rotten apples and....holy shit.

can't remember if i've posted this, but - i was born with this terrible speech impediment. and drumming has really been my only way to express myself. i may not be able to speak properly, but if i practice enough, i can tune my snare just like he does on geek and feel good about myself again. i can have a voice again, and maybe try to be a human being.

my parents don't get it, maybe y'all don't get it (which is fair). i've been drumming for 7 years and every time i sat behind the kit, it was amazing. when i first started clumsily learning Today from tablature, when I played Jellybelly so fucking loud someone called the cops, when I tried to play Cherub Rock today but I was so fucked from the depression I couldn't even play the fucking outro roll (on the record!) that I'd mastered years ago....

that's why i have 6500 posts on here, and maybe half of them raving about chamberlin. everyone has heroes, of course, but to me jimmy's been more than that. even though his fills on solara sucked. He gave me a voice to be proud of.

Kids will always hone in on any perceived differences another might exhibit, however slight, but I don't think you should be stressing the voice thing into adulthod if it's anything like what we heard.

Unless you cleaned it up with Zeitgeist levels of studio retooling, it was pretty much what every action movie protagonist ever sounded like. When I'm coming off of the flu and talking a little like that, I go out of my way to make phone calls and generally see myself as an off-duty lounge singer pictured only in black and white.

even in the depths of depression and some pretty gnarly mental feels that have taken hold of me from time to time, there's always been a glimmer of hope - that it will pass and that i have much to live for

and hell, even if you don't have "a lot" to live for, there is something you enjoy that you wouldn't be able to enjoy if you were dead. sometimes trivial shit can be a life saver

that doesn't help at all and i'm outta my depth in a conversation like this, so im gonna exit quietly
