yes. use gmail/hotmail/yahoo. waaaaaaaaay too much spam account registrations from gmx domains for the number of actual users that it wasn't worth it to allow. gmail gets a metric fuckton of spam registrations, too, but with so many real users having them we can't really feasibly block that email domain.

once registered, the admin approval process that has to occur before one is allowed to post is to keep spam off the board. remember when there was a ton of spam posts? remember how that magically stopped one day? well, there you go. until andrew or someone decides to update the board software, this is probably how it's going to be.

the trade off is that sometimes new users have to wait for approval because i'm not here every day and i'm still the only one that routinely does anything behind the scenes here anymore. if i turned off approval, the board would be covered in spam. 99% of new registrations from the last few years have been spam accounts. even with the news of the reunion, there have been 36 legit new, approved registrations in 2 months. prior to that, there was 50 in two years, and some of those were 2nd/3rd/19th accounts.

so could we potentially be turning people away because of certain email domains, like burner email sites, being blocked during registration? yes. is it a lot? doubtful.

did you confirm the email address? if not, it probably got deleted- not allowing any new users who don't confirm the registration email within a few days.
