Fuck off fuzzy video games are a great way for people of all ages to relax. Some may even possess more artistic merit than your average Bill Cosby book

People have such an obsession with appearing "grown up".

It would be funny if it wasn't kinda sad.

I dunno, I see a lot of mutton dressed as lamb in these parts that seem to be grown ups who have an obsession with appearing as "young people"

Nothing funny-if-not-sadder than a middle aged person's grey roots appearing as their hair colour grows out. Get over it and be grey, already...

Eh, just seems to me as a way for insecure people to judge others in the most shallow way possible.

"Oh you dress this way, you are a child!" "oh you play video games what a baby"

That really doesn't seem very mature to me.

yeah but 40 year olds trying to look 25 is equally shallow.

And you'd expect at 40 that they'd be mature, because chronologically speaking, they are actually mature.

Most people who criticise others for being childish are pretty young, themselves.

People in their thirties don't bother with that, not that I've noticed.

But so many women seem to hit forty, and develop this childish belief that being younger is better, and they can be younger or look younger if they inject crap into their faces and stain their hair. it's embarrassing. get over it already

In that particular case I agree.
But I think that has more to do with society being fickle and putting pressure on women to look always young and attractive.
Some people feel so pressured by it that their expectations and standards get completely out of whack.

I agree strongly, even though someone like fuzzy was probably looking for the easiest thing to 'criticize ' someone over.

Not that i had expected more from him.

That kinda makes it seem like they're victims - they're 40, they know what they're doing.

If they spend a lot of their spare time trying to make themselves sexually attractive to people who don't find them sexually attractive, they're not victims of anything.

They're just shallow dumbasses who have no identity outside of being found attractive. Nobody did anything to them...They're just dumbasses.

It honestly would be funny if it wasn't sad.

But they are victims even if they know what they are doing, they are doing it because of expectations of others, not just themselves. That does not automatically gives them a pass or makes it OK.
The reality of the situation is that it's a push and pull. If you're already insecure and you get all this pressure on your head, guess what, you just might buckle to it.

You have to be pretty stupid to buckle under pressure just because you're insecure

I can't offer any kind of empathy but I do appreciate the entertainment

because I have acquired the maturity to find the best in every situation

i'm kinda over the "society expects me to ... so what choice do I have". It's a cop out. Society expected Germans to support the transportation of Jews to work camps, so what choice did they have.

I mean we're talking about the decision to dye your hair so that people don't know it's grey, nobody's going to shoot you for it. They'll just know you're old.

If you make a big deal out of something like that, you're not a victim. You're a dumbass.

i feel the same way about hair removal for women because society expects it. and then going as far as to shame women for having pubic, leg, underarm hair by calling it nasty, ugly, etc.

do it because you like it but honestly if you do it because you're worried about what people will think of you if you don't, you're not a victim.

you're a dumbass

I just think you're being overly dismissive because for you it's not a big deal... well, to some people it is.
And to a large percentage of those people it's a psychological issue they actually have little control over.

Your argument to me, is more like saying "peope with depression are just dumb, they should just be happy" but that's not how that works.

it's not being a dumbass to feel insecure. It's being a dumbass to continue, into your 40s, to act in ways that are driven by your insecurity and never stop to question whether it's a dumbass thing to do.

I feel the same way about depression - it's not being a dumbass to feel depressed, or to be disabled by depression for periods at a time, but it is being a dumbass to continue living into your forties, ignoring the public health campaigns run by governments and non-profits to normalise mental illness and advertise the help that is available, and never seek counselling and other forms of therapy so that you can mitigate the severity of depressive episodes and communicate your challenges more effectively to others to lessen the negative effects on their lives.

I think you're being overly sensitive because for you, it's an issue. Well, for mature people, it isn't.

Easy for you to say from the outside, people who have those issues often don't realize themselves they might have a problem, or don't want to admit to themselves that they need help.
But go ahead, you can label them as dumbasses all you want, if that makes you feel better about yourself.

And lol at that attempted jab at the end there, how cute.

Me having the ability to see where other people might come from or undestand what their issue might be doesn't mean I have that same issue.
Just FYI.

or, maybe you don't want to admit to yourself that you have the same issue.

But label yourself as simply demonstrating detached empathy all you want, if it makes you feel better about yourself.

it's probably cuter than reality.

I was simply arguing there are valid reasons some people might act the way they do. I wasn't even disagreeing that it can come across as stupid or shallow in the particular case you brought up.

You are the one trying to turn this into a personal poo flinging contest.
