third day in a row that I'm home flat on my back. Had to call in sick to work. Saw my Ortho for my back this morning and got a bunch of prescription meds. Steroids, Tramadol and Muscle relaxers.

I feel like i'm falling apart.

You gotta eat healthier Scott. You were looking a little thin in a photo or 2. If you put on some weight and get stronger it'll strengthen your back.

i've had back problems since i was 19. All the way back to when I was on an athletic scholarship in college. The past 15 years it's gotten severe. every year or so i rupture a disc. Most of my adult life i've been in very good shape. Until 7 years ago I raced my bike year around. It's not a fitness thing. I got some bad DNA and it left me with a fucked up spine.

The strongest pain killer i've ever taken is Tramadol. The pills i took this weekend i got three years ago and only used for a few days back when they were prescribed. They were actually expired. I still have 50 tablets. i can only take a low dose. Anything stronger than Tramadol makes me sick. In all these years i've avoided taking anything stronger than over the counter drugs for pain.

Luckily each time i've had an episode i've eventually recovered. Usually within 6 weeks. Once though it took two Spinal injections with Cortisone. They put me on a high dose of steroids as an anti inflammatory and it usually works after a few weeks. Today I got a steroid prescription. If it works like it usually does i'll be off pain killers right away.

there isn't a good surgical option for degenerative discs. Spinal fusion is the only real option but it's typically only used for cases where people cannot be treated any other way. Spinal fusion has a low success rate and usually leads something akin to arthritis in the spine.

class at 7:10pm on another campus which is about 40 minutes away but it's rush hour so it takes me like 90 minutes. I have about 1:50 to get there so it's been fine but it's a bit maddening
