yes, and I learned to drive an 18 speed, double clutch and rpm match on youtube before I had to hop in one and drive it with 80,000lbs of grain. I cannot stand automatic vehicles.

The thought of me in all my clumsiness trying to steer a potentially lethal piece of machinery is really scary to me.

Yeah 5 of those cars were less than $2500. And that's over a span of 13 years.

Like I don't know enough about/am an enthusiast enuff to go trade in cars like that so I'll probably drive my civic until then and long for an impreza (boring but kinda fun) and other cars and stuff

I mean if you buy an old-ass 100,000 mile Japanese car and sell it a year or two later it only costs you the maintenance. Which is minimal. And I'll do it all myself. But it's a hobby. It's what I like. I never owned a new car until this one, which is cheap AF but also the most expensive car I ever owned.

I think like 4 of those vehicles had under 80,000 miles on them when I bought them.

50k is perfect. That's the sweet spot to buy imo. They're still new but they depreciated the majority of their value.

The heater blower also died in my truck this winter. Also it didn't come with a/c. Or power windows. Or power locks. Or power mirrors. The tires on it cost me over half what I paid for it.

Mike has driven his Canadian civic hatchback thing (2000) for 12+ years now. It just hit 360km on the odometer. It won't die. It will rust away before it stops running. Maintaining my car has cost more tbh. Some cars just don't give up. Love that lil thing. No power windows or locks or a/c or anything in that

my car is about to hit 130k miles. i got it at about 80 in 2012

my a/c is broken
all 4 of my car door handles have broken off. the outside ones. can still be opened, but looks like shit and only a matter of time before the last parts that allow it to open come off. one is like that already. i just need to get them all fixed, or at least the front 2

i'm also about to be done paying for it. when i got it my dad worked for a toyota dealership and he got me a terrible deal. he also spent most of the insurance money from my previous car on himself instead of reinvesting it in my car, where it belonged. but i was definitely too depressed/timid back then to fight him about it

i've had lots of problems with it recently but i plan on keeping it as long as i can. i will get the air fixed before summer. tires are new. battery/starter/radiator are new. belts have been changed. it should be a champ for a long while now. fingers crossed.

The thing about driving and this might sound off because I've expressed that I'm bad is that you have to make every maneuver deliberate and confident so other drivers know how to react

I've never been in an accident and the only time I've come close is if someone is judging my driving because then I get uneasy

I'm convinced the people that cause accidents are the ones that half do things and then doubt themselves because it confuses everyone
(And drunk drivers ofc)

i'm a pretty good driver tbh, and i think a lot of it has to do with me assuming the worst about people and always being prepared for others to do stupid or selfish things

I consider myself a pretty competent driver, never had a serious accident or anything. I credit a lot of it to being vigilant and aware of the different contingencies that could pop up based on what other drivers are doing. It's just a mechanical task for me though, I've never understood people who are bad drivers. I'm not a timid or overly cautious driver at all, I'm usually one of the faster cars on the road. I think I'm just aware and focused whereas it seems a lot of people straight up do not put their full attention on the task at hand.

I love how drivers almost always are yelling and complaining about literally everyone driving around them.

Makes them seem way more attractive and tolerant.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by deliberate/confident? Do you mean, like, go ahead and cut off that other boner, even if only .75 car lengths of space, cause he'll hit the brakes if you do it ... hard enough?

Also how do you know if other drivers are judging you?? I have never heard of this, in my life

Need more info on these theories asap, pls

I drive as if every other person on the road is self-important asshole and I find that assumption serves me quite well.
