Um I live in a one bedroom with no vermin thanks. Hardwood floors, nice landscaping, free heat and water, off road parking spot (no fee), quiet and clean, historic building in a great town. Because Mike and I work for it. We plan on buying here too.

It's ridiculous in this city though - 5 years ago my husband and I worked out a figure that would make us comfortable - $150k/year. He surpassed that a couple of years ago and I still feel poor.

Kids are so expensive though - school band fees for the two of them will be $1k plus band camp $500 for the two of them, plus $200 instrument hire for the youngest because he doesn't have his own trumpet yet. Private tuition for both of them will be over $700 this term alone. Tennis is $275 per term. Swimming is $250-300/month. Basketball will cost me $175 this week. And that's without school excursions, school camps, etc.

I mean my kids could just do none of these things and never pick up any skills and sit at home playing video games, but I don't want them to be losers
