I used to cut myself as my only real coping method at one point in my life but now it's around every 2 years or so lol. Hate my scars and consider them very embarrassing and shameful

i used to burn myself, have a good amount of burn scars but luckily people don't tend to recognize them as self harm. i do have some pink ribbon scars on my left inner forearm that i'm a little self-conscious about but whatever, it was a long time ago and i'm not ashamed of them

Sometimes I forget I have a bunch of really blatantly self-inflicted scars on my arm. I'm not really self conscious about taking my shirt off at the beach or things like that, but then suddenly I will remember I have scars and purposely never turn that side of my body towards people. usually no one notices, or at least I receive very few comments.

I was at the doctor a few months ago and got a flu shot. the nurse was like "oh, someone scratched you?" I felt super hot in the face suddenly, I totally didn't even think about the scars because like I said people tend to either not notice or be wary of asking me about it. I was like "Errr yeah the dog...." I felt super awkward and embarassed, like obviously my dog did not give me dozens of extremely fine crosshatch scars below my shoulder
