I've been thinking about getting back on my Hebrew lately. At this point I can barely string together a few coherent phrases which I taught the dog to respond to...

I would learn best with a tutor or in a class, but most American Jewish Hebrew speakers know the kind of liturgical Hebrew you have to learn for a bar mitzvah I think. My ex had a big argument with her aunt over how to say something in Hebrew, can't remember the example, and we were SURE she was saying it how Israelis say it despite her aunt's obstinate insistence it was grammatically incorrect. I'm not really interested in learning from a non-Israeli.

seriously though i wish i knew what the argument was about. it's kind of beyond me how somebody could get into a big argument about grammar.

with that said, Hebrew can honestly be a very beautiful language but it's incessantly destroyed and violated by newer generations and it honestly deeply saddens me. i actually prefer talking with old people because they use the language so gracefully.
