It always worked out well for me with people I knew from real life. It could be unique to my friend group because we all went to hippie college but I suspect it is more likely we were just open to breaking sexual taboos and it could work for lots of people.

The problem I have now is that I was sleeping with one of my best friends for years and now she lives in Asia with her boyfriend and basically I'm not sure I will ever find someone else as sexually compatible and that is tremendously sad and disheartening.

She just didn't love me anymore. I think she had been drifting away for awhile, but I was still just as into it as when we first met, and couldn't accept that or even entertain the thought really. In hindsight there were lots of red flags that the relationship was going downhill over the last year, and I was aware and even posted on Netphoria about it. We broke up, we got back together, then I considered breaking it off permanently... but I ultimately just believed we were "supposed" to be together because it was so good when things were good, that I couldn't end it. I just continuously reinvested myself and tried to show how devoted I was and a certain point she was just like eh not worth it anymore I guess

the other woman who looms large in my past, she was after that woman although there was overlap in terms of I was sleeping with the second girl before the first broke up with me, but I was abroad at the time. The 2nd woman and I just had a colossally unhealthy shit show of a relationship. Other people thought were were like the most perfect couple ever, but her problems, which only came out in private, eventually turned into a whirlpool from which neither of us could get out. I don't want to blame her 100% cause I brought a lot of issues of my own into the situation, but her problems really took over my life and my inability to make her even slightly happy or more healthy eventually led to me hating myself, wanting to kill myself, etc

I loved her very deeply but at the same time I was desperately trying to escape for my own survival or perhaps just because I was unable to deal with her. I couldn't commit, cheated on her, wouldn't agree to a monogamous relationship (basically because I still wanted to have the option to sleep with my friend in Asia). The whole thing was a disaster of indescribable proportions

We were both shitty and I don't want to sound like I feel she ruined me in a calculated way, but sometimes it does feel like that. It's hard to articulate because I feel more comfortable discussing the ways in which I was unkind to her than revealing things about her past or her behaviors that made the relationship not just a day-to-day, but literally a minute-to-minute struggle sometimes. So it's easier to just say never date a saxophonist, she will destroy your soul.
