I wasn't that interested in it tbh think I didn't like the title of it or something

Public Image Ltd. is one of the greatest groups ever though as far as I'm concerned

I was 8 years old in 94 and when I first head Basketcase- I had a first time MDMA like high. I became a hard-core fan up until Warning.

It's like if you revisit Nirvana now... It doesn't seem ALL that impressive now that we're aware of Bush, Silverchair, STP and Everclear. But at the time when it debuted it was a "
HOLY SHIT!" type moment. You have to consider the musical landscape when appreciating an importance of a band.

Didn't like the title? It's called "Anger is an energy". That's fucking awesome!

Don't get me wrong... It has interesting passages, it's just it's kind of a slog to get to em.

If you like PIL there's A LOT about the band in the book... Much more so than the Pistols, which is kinda why I thought it sucked.

Yeah I thought "Anger is an energy" is cheese af not awesome at all, so I figured it was gonna be a lame read

It makes sense it would mostly be about PiL considering he spent 90% of his life in that band and not in Sex Pistols which made it like, what, 1 year at most?

I had a cassette of Dookie that I got for Christmas when I was 11. I played that shit until my tape player ate it. I used to enjoy skimming the liner notes, taking in all the filthy images and curse words.

No doubt. It's not even that. It's just a lot of the passages are just meaningless rambling not even relevant to any of his bands.... It's just that it's hard to get through unless you're a die-hard fan.

I don't know about all of that, but I've always fantasized about being older ever since I was a kid. I was elated when I turned 30 (even though my personal life was in shambles). I can't wait to turn 40. I can't relate much to people my own age, which is probably why I'm dating a woman 11 years older than me.

Example: Here I am in my pajama pants, nursing a beer and talking to you fucks. Meanwhile, most folks my age are either hitting the bars or changing diapers. Fuck that noise.

It is pretty dope... Mostly only because of Homecoming, Whatsername and Letterbomb.

It was a little too bloated and initially kind of lacked the immediate Green Day energy that I love and I was PISSED that Billie and Tre were wearing eye-liner... But it's stood the test of time and helped them NOT become a washed up band like the B0lly-project so I appreciate it more today than back then.

I don't care about the eyeliner; the songs are there and that's all that matters. Letterbomb, Extraordinary Girl, Give Me Novocaine, Homecoming, Jesus of Suburbia, Whatsername...that album just has so many gems.

I was really deep into that album when it came out. I don't attach quite the same meaning to it now as I did when I was 21, but it's still a great album.

Hell yeah man. Extraordinary girl was always one of my stand out favorites while oddly enough most fans just see it as filler or a "skip-over".

It was a great album for Green Day to re-prove themselves and to aquire renewed relevance but they just failed in an epic manner once they tried to build on it for 21st century break down/Uno Dos Tre/ Revolution Radio.

It hurts to say as a guy who worshiped them- but I think they're now washed up.

21st Century Breakdown was solid. Not great, but not bad. I still think they can recover.

Yeah, I mean, it had like 3/4 tracks that I thought were rad/pretty rad... So that was enough to suffice my needs as a fan.

But the whole tripple-release and the new album just kinda blow...

on the whole 3 albums (uno/dos/tre) I really only liked about 2 songs and thought 3 were okay.... Pretty weak ratios for a band I used to worship. and I think the new album just really kind of sucks. I hate to say it, but I can't be one of those Smashing Pumpkins fans who know Teargarden sucks donkey balls but still try to convince themselves that it's good.

I think they're on a better roll than Corgs even still. Roll up the best tracks from the trilogy and the new album and you'd have a pretty great Green Day album. Can't say the same for SP 3.0.

Oh hell yeah man. I never meant to compare Green Days situation to the cosmic shit-ball that Corgans some how regressed into.

I just mean that even despite my prior fandom: I can't sit here and :"like" an album just because it's by Green Day
