that's probably true, but these days when the population is so uncontrollably massive, legislation and founding of rules is held accountable for all extremes, so a relatively small, but numerally large minority of violent kids is probably withholding everybody of what they should be getting, which is an idea of how to protect themselves.

yeah. as much as I hate to admit it, there were times when I watched a student use force against someone who had been antagonizing them, and it is super satisfying. There are of course exceptions like kids who just have psychopathic and chronically violent tendencies, but generally a bully getting hit back really hard does more to curb that behavior in the future than anything punitive the school can do.

sometimes in my dreams i have memories of things that never actually happened to me...
i'm like, 'yeah i remember this from last week'
or, 'yeah, i met up with these dudes before'
or, 'yeah, how did i ever forget about that'
it all seems real until i wake up and become suddenly aware that this never took place.

my earliest memory of this is a dream i had as a kid, where i found a dog in the wardrobe at home and suddenly remembered i had a dog. how happy i was to find him again. where has he been all this time.

two weeks ago i had this dream where i realized i was having a dream and this wasn't a real memory, but i thought i had woken up yet i was still dreaming.

public education, like so many other sectors of our society, is basically fubar because of conservative assholes, who then run around the other end and point to the mess they caused as failures of public education

i mean if we're on that subject i'm still dumbfounded by how in the modern age you need a license to do anything and everything except having kids

being a parent is absolutely not for everybody and so many kids are growing into a world of misery because of inadequate parenting

i mean yeah schools should better equip you for dealing with life, but if we're doing that, why don't we just take one step backwards and have people be required to pass a bar exam to have kids, making sure the potential parents are actually capable of raising a child without fucking them up for good

years ago i went through a period of having recurring dreams that there were hidden rooms within my grandmother's house -- places that couldn't physically exist within the geometry of the structure, these cavernous spaces littered with rubble and ruins, or old parlors where everything was covered in cloth.

i went so far as to actually look for the entrances to these spaces -- despite knowing how absurd it was -- in the back of walk-in closets and the various "hidden" spots throughout the house. it was a fascinating and utterly strange thing to see myself do.

I do this too, but with dream memories. So in a dream I'll do something, and then later in another dream days/weeks/months later, I'll remember what I did in another dream. For example I sometimes dream I fly back to my ex's place and we have sex and then I realize wtf am I doing and realize I've missed work and school and just fucked myself over. But then I realize I've done this before and my boss and school knows I sometimes do this and they will understand.

I am sympathetic to this, and considering there are myriad ways parental rights can be terminated after the kid exists, it seems at least some sort of basic parental screening test could be helpful

On the other hand, such policies would seem to face a lot of equal protection issues, as they would seem to be necessarily triggered/linked to a woman's choice to become pregnant

Oh boy I loooooooov extra rooms dreams. I have them a lot. Sometimes there's a whole extra house that is in the other house and I go through and keep finding more and more rooms. It's amazing how detailed the stuff in them can be, too, down to the scratchy feel of the pink fabric on some antique armchair.

Often the extra rooms feel haunted by unseen presences

I have extra room dreams all the time - they are the best. I live in a basement and I don't know what the upstairs part looks like but based on my dreams it is a Ex Machina type mansion up there.

i had a dream about a farm house in the middle of nowhere and i was crawling around in the basement, popping in at different rooms. the place was devoid of people and furniture and i should have been scared, but there were lots of windows and it was sunny out.

i found myself crawling up to a bedroom and immediately i'm standing on the floor and looking out to the road. i see a lone care driving by and my family is inside of it and i start banging on the window because i don't want them to leave me. and then the damn window won't open.

well, one day the whole family was driving to north carolina, i think it was, and we passed a farm house as we were leaving texas. i swear to shit it was the same farm house in my dream. i must have been 9 and asked my parents in the most convincing way if we could please stop. i could not stop looking back and i can still see it. and they blow for not indulging that.
