my mom is doing well. she was in a lot of pain yesterday and this morning but is home now and doing better. i've been feeding her percocet in apple sauce and draining her drains and stuff. she's been up for like 48 straight. can't wait for her to sleep so i can sleep.

just came home for the first time since saturday. my cat is SO happy to see me. the feeling is mutual.

my mom's doing well... has pain at night mostly. she has some kind of sore on her back from the rubbing of her bra thing she has to wear until wednesday. she called the doc, hasn't heard back yet. it sort of looks infected but i'm not sure. and then there is another one that's not open but it's there but under the clear surgical tape holding her drains to her body, so I can't get to it without fucking up her bandages.

Anyway I came home to see kitty before my class. Might go back tonight for a few minutes but probably not. Tomorrow after class I'm picking up my sister from the airport and Wed my mom has an appointment with the surgeon to decide if she needs to take any anti-estrogen pills or chemo pills.

I am also deaf in my right ear right now, and the left one feels somewhat clogged. I think my ear tube came out of the right ear because I can't seem to get drops to go inside (you can taste it a little when it gets thru and I can't taste it) and also there's no suction when I push on my ear hole like there usually is and is on the other one. Anyway I have an appointment on Wed after my mom's appointment.

reprise sorry for asking such an irrelevant question but is anybody feeding your kitty?

hope your mom feels better. i can't imagine how difficult it must be to see one of your parents like this, regardless of past baggage.

I was only gone for 48 hours so i left a huge bowl of food and several bowls of water, plus a dripping faucet. Not ideal but I think 48 hours is an ok upper limit.

i got an appointment on wednesday so the doc will suck the crap out of my ears and replace the tubes or whatever needs to be done, plus antibiotics i'm sure

my right ear is completely clogged but my left one is still fighting a little, so im going to make sure to sleep on my left side and pray some liquid comes out via gravity. i'd say i'm at 60% hearing right now, which is enough to get by but i have to ask people to repeat themselves a lot

Yeah front to back it was a tru delight. Chomped the F outta some movie nachos at it too. I love to put the pickle jalapeños right on top the chips and let em get a lil damp wit it plus pour popcorns on top of that

thanks run to me (and everyone) but unfortunately I've had some more issues

my mom is really in a ton of pain, and very uncomfortable. she goes back to the doc tomorrow for surgery follow up, and I was going to go and want to go, but...

I came home tonight to see my cat with wet all around her mouth, like she was licking herself constantly and somewhat raw, however it also was crusty... sorry, not a good explaination. and she wouldn't close her mouth all the way and was super avoidant. it was readily apparent that something was wrong. i called up a 24/7 vet and took her there. the crust/wet is likely a combo of saliva and blood. but we decided not to clean it off, because it would hurt too much tonight.

luckily, because this is the least dangerous of the possible outcomes (but possibly most expensive), she has a bleeding and probably abscessed canine. she needs dental surgery with cleanings and probable extractions. the doc told me she could do all of the pre-op blood work etc tonight, but it'd cost 4x as much and not save much time. thank god for honest doctors. they gave me antibiotics and narcotics for her (buprenophine) and sent everything to my regular vet. I'm also going to call tomorrow and hopefully see them tomorrow morning...

Which brings me to my appointment for my ears... it's at 2:15, and I do need to go. this hearing thing is threatening to get worse and i can't just let it go. so, if they say we can see her but only at this time, I will have a tough choice to make. my ears might be fine for another week, or might not. layla will be fine for one extra day, but be in immense pain.

hopefully i don't have to choose.

life sucks and layla is mad at me but i'm pretty sure she's high as fuck on bupe as she seems to be sleeping while sitting up. i broke out some tuna for her and she ate almost a whole can. prob hasn't been eating much dry food - understandably. but i didn't notice. :/ gonna have to get her some wet food for a few days and hope it doesnt give her the shits but it probably will. im hoping she hops up here tonight to sleep and we can be buds again. the 24/7 vet is like 30 mins away so we had some long car rides that she isn't used to and she was very scared

Yeah, sounds like things are getting pretty heavy for you there, Reprise. I always feel useless when trying to respond to other posters' serious issues because I want to show understanding and support but also can't offer much in the way of practical advice.

Have you discussed strategies for coping with this stress with your therapist lately? I mean, it sounds like you're handling this amazingly well, but it could always help.

oh yeah, my therapist is on vacation, too. until next thursday

tomorrow morning i drop kitty off at 7am and they'll evaluate and do what they need to do and I pick her up at night. today i'm trying to keep her happy. she's hiding mostly but if i sit near her and pet her a little she seems to be comforted. of course when i give her meds that fucks everything up but ya know, what can i do. i also cut up her treats to be in tiny pieces and she ate those as well as the rest of the can of tuna. im going to buy her a can of fancy feast tonight and then she can't eat after 10pm.

i feel really bad for her and also i thought something was wrong and i just ignored it for a while :/ she was making funny mouth movements and i should have brought her in but i suck sometimes
