I dunno, I've known people who worked at fast food places and they all seemed like they had fun at one point or another. I've never known a Wal-Mart employee to be happy.

Restaurants are actually a lot of fun. Ever work in one?

Hot waitresses, free food, free booze (sometimes), weed breaks, dunking random things in the fryolator...

I really don't like food service of any kind that's just me

I came of age in restaurants, so I might be a little biased

Even still, you haven't lived until you've received a blowjob in the dry storage room.

I once worked at a counter-service pizza place. Me and this one girl were working alone together in the afternoon. It was slow. We had sex in the manager's office. Miraculously, no one came into the restaurant during those five glorious minutes.

Food service is like the last place I would ever choose to work. Just seems like an awful shitty high stress job where people abuse you all the time for very little pay

Well, there's a difference between being behind the counter and being in a kitchen, far removed from the shitty customers

The few times I tended bar or hosted or waited tables I made stupid amounts of cash.

But if you want to be a server, you'll make great money (while taking abuse, of course)

It is everything is timed if you make a mistake as will inevitably happen you will cause a giant snag in the system and people will start to flip the fuck out and it's already probably very hot back where you're working

Waiting tables would be different but I can't imagine dealing with even the warranted complaints because it's not even your fault

This guy gets it.

Especially beneficial if you don't claim most of your cash tips at the end of the night.

The heat can be an issue. Pizza place had AC in the kitchen (as do most places these days). It's honestly not that bad.

But restaurants are definitely something you age out of. After about age 27, it gets tiresome.

you ever take orders through a head set that'll get old real quick most people have zero ordering etiquette

When I order I'm like NUMBER 3 MEDIUM COKE CRISPY *drives to next window with money in hand*

I never worked a fast food job, so I can't speak to that. But like I said before, the peeps I've know who did somehow found a way to enjoy life.

Yeah, I get this. I am always prepared and always try to be as courteous as possible.

Everyone should be forced to work a year in customer service at a young age. We'd have a much more civilized society.

I went through a McDonald's drive thru a few weeks ago with this guy and we pulled up to the menu and I ordered what I wanted and then he hemmed and hawed for literally at least a full minute trying to figure out what he wanted

I was so embarrassed like come on dude you know what is on the menu

I hope you got onto the highway afterwards, forced him to get out, and then drove off.

just remember if you don't tell them the size and drink before you start listing off the orders of your 7 kids you gonna have to repeat all that

At first I tried to just memorize everything even though the computer wouldn't let me enter it yet but that's asking for disaster as when you read it back customer will not be paying attention

I go to this bagel shop just about every Saturday morning and the line is always out the door. Without fail, there's always someone in front of me who, after standing in line for 15 minutes, doesn't think about what they want until getting to the front.

When this came up at the pizza place, I would make that decision for people. If you didn't specify what size french frie, soda, whatever you wanted, you got a medium. It never backfired.

look one time I gave a kid a happy meal with 6 nuggets instead of 4 which is a whopping 1 penny increase and the woman brought it back up and made me exchange it for an entirely new 4 piece

My ex-mother in law, who was a really nice person, was a real pain the tits whenever we'd go out to eat. She'd ask so. many. questions. And make so. many. substitutions. It's like, are you sure you don't wanna stay home and just make your own food?
