Then you respond like the argument I was making is that Hillary Clinton beyond a shadow of a doubt (your word was "proof") is not sick. That's not even remotely what I said. Conservos have been losing on social issues over the decades, but I'd say that they've got the upper hand in economic policy and that the West is currently in a neoliberal era. I mean, even the 'left' parties have economic policies that would be considered moderately conservative decades ago. Bernie Sanders is seen as a radical when he would be perfectly at home in the Democratic party in the '50s. Obama is fiscally right of Nixon, and even Eisenhower once said that anybody who didn't accept the New Deal was just way off the spectrum.

But yeah, for social stuff, all the Right can do is stamp their feet, fold their arms, and rave on talk radio as LGTB people, women, and minorities gradually come to be treated like actual people. However, as social and economic rights are linked, the Left can never fully accomplish it's social goals without realizing the economic ones, as well. I think this is the part that economically-right libertarians don't quite see.

Are you referring to political power? Bush was in office for 8 years, and they've controlled the house the last several years, obstructing Obama at every turn. Conservatives were in power from 1980-1992.

I agree with that, but when you zoom out and look at the transition from imperial economies to feudalism to capitalism, it's pretty obvious our global economies have been becoming more inclusive and have been pulling people up for many thousands of years. We may be in an era of relative economic conservatism, but capitalism has led to a world with less people living in extreme poverty, dying of disease, living in warzones, being enslaved than ever before (by percentage of the total population of course).

I didn't just mean like in American history within the context of the last century. Waves can go every which way but the deep currents of the ocean only go one direction.

No group in the history of humankind has succeeded thus far in freezing something at a static place they view as being a golden age or whatever. That's more ridiculous than the most extreme leftist utopian socialism
