In general, it tends to be millenials from minority groups who are hyper-cynical about the appropriation/blending of their cultures into mainstream white America. Older folks are more likely to see a white politician speaking their language as a gesture of inclusion. It's just a big generational difference

Donald Trump's entire success thus far is based on his ability to generate and manipulate media headlines by acting like a gestapo circus clown. The media literally gave him such a disproportionate amount of attention at the beginning that he became the front-runner. But now that the guy is proving himself to be a fucking dickweed lightweight narcissist used car salesman who can't run a campaign or not offend every demographic on the planet including those he needs to win the election, it's the media that is somehow biased against him.

This is why it's impossible to talk to Trumpets. They deflect any criticism with "YOU GOT THAT FROM THE BIASED MEDIA."

Imagine if the media gave Sanders half as much attention as they gave Trump. George Bush regularly spoke in spanish. He gave speaches in spanish while campaigning for both the presidency and governor. And he got a lot of Latino votes. no Dems ever called him pandering for it.

Apparently it's because she polls really low with white men so Kaine was supposed to give those numbers a boost. I feel like it was a bad call though, the guys incredibly boring to listen to and has an awful track record.

Of course Trumps running mate is just as bad though... I think he should have picked Jesse Ventura... Would have aligned with his stance and policies.

she's not getting any white male votes because of Kaine. She doesn't need to pander to "white males." Dems don't need them to win the white house. She chose him because of his foreign policy experience, his experience as a chief executive and the fact that he gets along with her and bill. Modern Veeps work very closely with the POTUS and are typically chosed to fill a specific niche within the Administration. A good example of an actual terrible VP pick was Sarah Palin. McCain had no relationship with her prior to choosing her. She was a blatent political pick, chosen to bolster his cred with the right wing and to add a woman to a ticket that was running against the first potential black president.

Kaine was one of three people on Obama's VP list. A lot of people expected Obama to pick Kaine. But he picked Fightin' Joe because he needed an experienced legislator to push his agenda through Congress.

Of course, at the time I don't remember anybody claiming Obama picked Biden to gain white male votes.
