That absurd perspective was applied to African Americans for opposing Segregation (otherwise referred to as 'Southern Culture'). Or more recently to LGBTQ Americans for asking to be treated with dignity like human beings.

The Satanists aren't threatening anybody's beliefs. They're simply pointing out the hypocrisy of conservative moralism, and they're demanding equal treatment under law.

The Satanists in Detroit are one of the only organizations in the country fighting against State sponsored religious displays. If you support public religious displays you have to accommodate all religions, which includes the Satanists. When they show up they help hold local governments accountable to following the law.

In the case of this particular protest, they're specifically trying to embarrass Christian groups that are trying to close health clinics in Michigan and intimidate women who use them.

The Satanist likely confuse the clause against establishment of religion by law which was intended to erect ‘a wall of separation between Church and State' as the Supremes determined in the late 1940's and has been haggled over several times since then.
