But like i don't know, having common interests and same values and thinking if not the same at least, similarly, is like the first thing i look for personally. And this is the kind of stuff you'll also look for in a "best friend". Although i don't know, sometimes there can be a lot of differences. I suppose actually it matters LESS with a friend obviously. but somewhere in your core values and interests, you have to meet.

I can't imagine ever being as close to a platonic friend as a partner I really loved actually. certainly not to a male friend. all the most deeply interpersonal relationships I have had have been romantic.

I still own it but I haven't worn it in probably a couple years. I think that the last time I wore it, I made the mistake of wearing it with a Breton-striped shirt, and everybody at the birthday function I went to thought I was in costume as a Frenchman. This was back when I was still invited to stuff sometimes. In fact, I'm pretty sure that was the last time that particular person ever invited me to anything.
