being sick seems like a novelty and at times i wish i got sick more often, but deep down i really don't. i feel the same way about headaches but last time i had one it made me vomit and cry which furthered the pain and the crying i was then trying to stifle. i wanted to disappear or wait it out on the bathroom floor with the lights off and my eyes closed but all i could do was moan on the coach and try not to move.

Since I was a kid I figured that at any moment I would contract a horrible illness and die. I never thought I'd be an old man.

When you make it to middle age you realize that you WILL die of a horrible illness. Cause only the lucky few die old and happy in their sleep

there's a sweet spot to being sick where you don't feel completely terrible but you are able to skip your responsibilities because they aren't very important and you are objectively sick. but its very hard to hit that spot. for example, i had to go to class today and i have to tomorrow. but if tomorrow was a work day i would consider calling out.

i have a moderate headache on and off and some sneezing but the worst is my nose is dripping like crazy. no big deal at home, just shove some tissue in there but when walking around it's different. i guess. i walked around campus with tissues in my nose today.

It's partly genetic, too - my grandfather is 97 and still lucid and active (still drives, I think???) and travels a lot (flying, driving), but both his brother and father lived to be over 100.

Some Jehovah's Witnesses have been coming around to out house and talking with me and leaving their books. I haven't known how to avoid being nice, and conversational with them. We actually share a lot of the same ideas...not about God or anything - we haven't really talked about that. But about raising kids. Anyway, they asked if I could spare some time so they could come and talk to me about a topic from a book they have left me, called "What Does the Bible Really Teach?". And I just wanted to be kind and accommodating, so now they're coming over tomorrow afternoon.

I feel like it's just going to get worse and worse, because the more I let them into the house and talk to them, the more they'll expect me to join their church, which I don't want to do, after reading all the stuff at the ex-jw sites. But I don't know how to break it off, now. They left me a mobile number so I could take the coward's route and send them an SMS politely asking them not to come back but I have no idea how to word something like that.

I once heard someone say that if you make it to 70 you can thank your life style. And if you make it to 90 you can thank genetics

I loooove having a car but I'm young and carefree and lazy. I enjoy driving on twisty, hilly, rural roads surrounded by trees. I'm able to travel to somewhat far away places where I can hike. I can transport stuff like furniture (I do a lot of this...) and take my dog with me on drives. So what can I say? I have an attachment to my car. I also totally understand how nice it is to drive different vehicles and enjoy their merits

I hate paying $11 for a one way ticket to ride a crowded, noisy train with people that don't respect the train. The ride is never as smooth as my car's is. Between the subway and nj transit I probably pay around $300/month just to work. Whereas i pay $50 a month for gas and that's to go fetch groceries and all the other things I mentioned above. If public transport was actually nicer and cheaper than having a car I'd give it up but still dream of how fun it is to drive

Felt bad for our rabbit because it's 27 degrees outside and he has a hot fur coat...so now he's on the dining table in the air con.

I actually dislike driving, and have always enjoyed public transport, but I've never had to use public transport during peak times, when trains are crowded. I would dislike that more than driving, I think.

I didn't get my drivers' license until I was 31 though, and that was only to drive my elder son to school. It has been really handy but it has also made me really fat and unfit. I used to get a lot more incidental exercise, just walking places and even just walking to the bus stop.

i loooove not having a car. i enjoy not paying for insurance, maintenance, a parking spot, parking, and 3+ dollars for gas. i get to go for walks on my way to do important things (2 birds/1 stone) and not have to worry about a giant accessory that needs to be everywhere i am. i do concede i would might feel differently if someone else paid for it all AND i would love to get behind the wheel of certain vehicles if just for a quarter mile.

That's because you have to drive in Sydney which has horrible traffic all the time. I don't commute via car so I can avoid traffic and rush hour on the roads

Maybe you'd feel differently if you owned something other than an suv. And didn't crash it drunk (therefore have horrible insurance rates).

so true

sick days at work can be tough... i worked at a company where everyone always took all their sick days, and it was accepted and expected

my company now frowns upon them hardcore... some people never use them, and I only use 2-3 per year of my allocated 8 or so.

i never crashed drunk and if you're referring to my dui 8 years ago maybe you need some new material. i only owned a license for 6 months before that happened and really didn't enjoy having a vehicle...as fun as driving can be.

I like road trips. They are my favorite thing. But as for day to day driving, I wish KC public transportation was way more expansive and reliable; I'd use it instead of my car all the time.

i went on plenty of "road-trips" with my family but we never named them road trips. it was just a thing we did to see family out-of-state (or the edges of Texas) because airfare for a family of five was more than they could afford at the time. i loved it, though, because we always got to go to cracker barrel on long drives like that and there was a closeness i still can't define. and who can forget fighting over the radio!

tim and i would like the ride the train to sedona and rent a cabin out there for a few days. hopefully it can finally happen this summer. i so badly want to see that area again.

Hi favourite food is kale, and he eats about $20 worth of that, every week. He's spoiled. We feed him kale, salad leaves, cucumber, celery, parsley, carrot & apple peel (he doesn't like pear), pellets, and meadow hay. He is really fussy. We tried giving him a generic rabbit/guinea pig feed, but he just spilled it out everywhere and nibbled out all the bits he liked and left the rest lying around everywhere. He's so naughty. If we give him salad mix with baby spinach leaves, he will nibble around them and eat everything except them.

Ours is pampered like nobody's business because we've lost two, already one little one who had a bacterial problem in his gut and one to heat exhaustion. At that stage the remaining bunny (the one pictured) came and lived with us indoors but that got to be too much. So now he lives on the balcony, and when it's hot we just pull the ranch slider open and he can come inside. We can't let him free range though, because he is really naughty and chews through all the cables to our electronic devices. I don't think he's particularly bright, for a bunny. But he is affectionate and sweet natured with us (doesn't nip us like the others did).

You are correct about Sydney traffic. It is utterly vile. I don't know how many hours of my life have been lost, sitting in a machine designed to move, but that either doesn't move, or moves slower than the people walking past me. Far too many!

My husband is so lazy, now that I drive. We deliberately rent in this location because it's close to the station. People actually park outside our house and walk to the station. But it's up a big hill, and a lot of days (especially when it's hot) he gives me the sad puppy eyes until I drive him up there. So bad.

Your guy is spoiled. Shadow gets arugula, banana, random vegetables/fruit occasionally along with his generic rabbit chow and Timothy hay is it? He needs more exercise and attention but he's a sweet guy. He's gotten healthier since we adopted him but I feel so bad because he's a rabbit and supposed to be hopping around happy. He poops everywhere when he free ranges

He likes to poop by the rat cage while they're in it and I watch them become pissed off and bare their teeth at him and he just not care. He's a pain to pick up after honestly

That does sound lovely. I'm sure the driving part can be actually enjoyable.

In my city traffic has grown way above what the streets actually support, so every major street gets full on weekdays and it moves very slowly. Public transportation actually is much faster cause the buses get their own exclusive lanes.

And it does not help that my city is the leading city on car theft averages in brazil.

Maybe it's the only "owning" a license for 6 months that has soured you. That is no time at all.

I'm only speaking for myself and my experiences with public transport (which I am on right now) and having a car/license in my area. I mean you'd think public transport would be good here but it's not
