Got one pick for the evening so far

Utah- 6.5

Still considering laying a little money on the Clippers, can't seem to pull the trigger though

If anyone has live betting, I think that Brooklyn ends up covering the spread today

yah, don't. They will be motivated to crush the Clips tonight.

2nd unit push along with Curry of course is where the blowouts are really coming from. L.A. countered them this year with a bolstered bench, so we'll see tonight how they match up.

Curry is virtually unguardable; by the time he hits the 35ft mark, teams have to send a guy to him which opens up huge space for their offense. He's in his 7th year, the game has slowed down for him now and he looks better than he did last season.

I don't think Vegas is stupid enough to allow the Warriors to go 5-0 against the spread to start off the season... Every square gambler and his mom are hammering on the Warriors

400$ LAC +7.5

fuck, it's looking like Atlanta is begging the Nets to cover but these guys can't even hit a basket for the life of them. How do some of these clowns even get a job in the NBA? I could make some of these uncontested shots that these clowns are fanning on

Going large on the CLIP-Show, I've had a windfall of money pouring in lately, but still, 400 bones on the line makes me a little nervous. I think that the Warriors appear human again tonight

What's the deal with Kobe Bryant lately? was watching the game last night just for the heckuvit and he was tossing up mad bricks... Saw him air ball a few very makeable shots. I gotta understand that he's a bit rusty or whatever, but it looked to me like he should just call it a night.

seriously.
this is one of the most insane highlight reels i've seen from any player, let alone IN ONE GAME. he's kinda larry bird-ish in that he's not necessarily an incredible athlete, but he seems to never miss, while still being able not to be a ball hog and pass the ball to the right man, at the right time.

Yeah I know, but all of the pundits and TV guys are still pumping his tires like seeing Kobe play is worth the price of admission, meanwhile he's shooting airballs on open looks.

Guy should just call it a day, or at least be regulated to a bench roll. I've only watched 1 lakers game and about 2 different halfs of different games and each time Kobes looked like a pathetic sack of shit.

Any time I've watched pieces of a Lakers games the TV guys are talking about how great it is for the sport to have Kobe back in the game and how he's gonna help propel the Lakers to competitive levels again and blah blah blah.

It reminded me of the last season that Derek Jeter played... Guy was useless and a huge liability to the team but all of these jerk-off commentators were still sloberring over his knob as if he wasn't always grossly overrated in the first place

i know it's cool to hate on kobe but i actually admire his determination and his will to get up on his feet and try to see if he can still do it.

it's the first few games of the season nobody gives a fuck about, he's a 37 year old beat down athlete who just went through two major injuries. give it a little more than 3-4 games before you bury him alive

Not the way the NBA game is set-up, he isn't. Curry is re-defining how the game is played. He's on pace to hit over 460 3-pointers thus far. Nobody's ever hit 300, he has the record in the 280's somewhere.

Westbrook is a better all-around athlete and all but he ain't a NBA prodigy like Curry was growing up. In that sense, Curry is like Barry Bonds and the Manning brothers. Westbrook is a great player, but he ain't at Curry's level right now, no one is.

youre a band wagon fan for one thing and two youre wrong, there isnt a gusrd alive who is as terrifying on a drive as russ is and for that, russ opens up shooting for all of his teammates and he is a EXCELLENT distributor. durant said today russ is the best player on okc. his teammates fuckin love him. hes wonderful.

curry is a skinny kid who has the best shot, lightly recruited he went to fucking davidson and dropped to sixth pick because he was skinny and at that time his handle and passing was not anywhere near as good. dell curry was a career bench player, he was no prodigy. lebron is a prodigy. the brow is a prodigy.

russ played at ucla with kevin love

curry is a special player no doubt but your bandwagoning homerism is super evident

Trotz, first off, I'm a Bay Area native and go back to Run TMC not to mention the greatest broadcaster ever Bill King.

then Don Nelson had no clue how to coach up Chris Webber and that fractured relationship literally sent the team into a 15 year tailspin. Ironically, it was Nelson and Baron Davis that had a blip of excitement being the first 8 seed ever to get over on a 1, Dallas.

Curry comes in with ankle issues and it was a bit touch and go at first. I've seen his progression first hand many times since he's been here and its been evident from the beginning he's got that extra prodigy level of superstardom.

bandwagoning, no. Homerism, sure.

and I could list a dozen national podcast where people are running out of superlatives to give this guy. Defending champ and MVP avg. 30+ on 32 min. a game and already has a fifty point night as well.

look at this point he is the best shooter in the game, but maybe you and i define prodigy differently because to me that's when you're hercules before you're even 18

Trots,

To me its like this, not to say Lebron wasn't a prodigy, he was, but he chose that. With guys like the Mannings, Bonds and Curry, they were chosen. When your Dad is bringing you up in pro locker rooms and then you manifest a career that transcends the sport in some ways, that's stepping up big time from an early age. For Bonds, his Godfather was Willie Mays and he was playing catch with him on a big league field when he was 5.

By the time a guy like that is, say, 18, they are on a completely different plane of existence than virtually all their competition at that age. Their view of the game and their role in it is at the highest level when most guys their age are just trying to impress some college recruiters.

It's an advantage certainly for such rare type of players, but only if they're good enough and dedicated enough to make themselves great. In Curry's case; him not being a big recruit has firmly planted a chip on his shoulder that ain't gone yet.

well, it makes some sense it would take a bettor to start an nba thread. gotta hand it to him on his Clips bet, nice call there. Looks like they're a good match-up the rest of the year, but can the Clips get over the mental hurdle on beating the dubs this year, physically they match up pretty well, better depth and all.

how's what's-his-face fitting in with the Spurs?

Anyone wanna witness a fix with their very own eyes? Go watch the last minute of the ESPN nationally broadcasted matchup of the Rockets VS The Kings last night. All you gotta do is look up the past games on NBA game pass.

The spread was set at +6 for the Kings and EVERYONE was pounding the Rockets. So the games going down to the wire and the Rockets are up 9 with 1 possesion left, so they just dribble the ball, run down the clock, players are patting each other on the back, Game was over. Only problem was there was a 1 second shot clock differential left... So with ONE SECOND LEFT the Kings run this nifty little running in bounds play to Collison to nail a 3 pointer to RUIN THE SPREAD. There was 1 second left! I've never seen a team that deadset on making that basket, usually they'll just pass it and let the 1 second run down.

The announcer after was laughing and was like look at that, the spread was set at 6 and it looked like Houston was blowing that outta the water many times during the game... Then he stops himself and goes "but Houston advances on anyways"

Now guys, go watch that last minute on the most betted game of the night and inform me why they ran that play with 1 second left. YOU NEVER SEE THAT. It was pointless, and they KNEW that Collison was the one guy who could hit a shot like that uncontested 100 times outta 100

You don't see me complaining, that 1 second basket saved my ass a bunch of money, but it was still very unusual to say the least.

At the very least the players were well aware of what the spread was and wanted to burn the backers who bet against them

festus is a pretty limited player but i like to see him get glory like that. i also love to see someone like him who has tremendous deficiencies but one excellency get a chance to shine in the sun

one of the unique things about hoops is how bench guys can suck at major parts of the game (festus's hands are like rocks, he has zero offensive awareness and he's slow) but they can have a few things that are just right to specialize in something, in uncle festus's case it's post defense.

i feel only good coaching can find and utilize this properly
