Vix sometimes I wonder if what you want from us is to tell you that we feel sorry for you for having had children.

a human life changes when they have kids, not all the changes are good or happy. venting about those unhappy/bad changes is not equal to ragging on your kids. that's a shitty thing to put on a parent IMO

yeah right, because there aren't any women or males in relationships here sick of listening to you loathe your family and yourself. Just the single bro dude parade killing time until they can jerk off to anal porn again by picking on you right.

Out of curiosity, Emma, is your writing project to be semi-autobiographical fiction?

no, I don't think so. It's a murder mystery, actually. Because that's what I like to read for pleasure. And I've read enough bad ones that I thought if I finish one and it does get published, it probably won't be the worst one in print.

Do women in Muslim countries not get forced to have anal sex?

for Muslims, that would be a crime and a sin. Anal penetration is no-no.

no; we lived in a unit close to the city and plenty of families do that. Families are all different. What is best for our particular family is:

1)having friends within walking distance for the boys and me
2)less than an hour commute (each way) for my husband
3)big, safe outdoor space that the boys can run around in/ride bikes in without me having to take them out anywhere in the car
4)walking distance to a school that has a community of families we fit in with
5)detached house with reasonable boundary space, so I'm not stressed about the amount of noise the trombone practice/yelling/piano practice/organ practice/playing is making for our neighbours.

And all of that, with our budget in Sydney ($800/week or less) means the suburb that we currently live in, or something very similar.

If I didn't have kids, I'd live in a studio apartment somewhere in the city where the population is very mixed and mostly adult, and I'd practice at a nearby church.

It's a formulaic murder mystery, set in Sydney. So, a body is found, two sleuths are established, a pattern and serial killer emerge, and the sleuths try to work out whodunnit. In the end, all is revealed...

Its commercial success will nevertheless be more or less directly proportionate to the amount of money invested in its marketing, I suppose.

Even writers that sell well make very little money out of it, though. Which is why there are dozens of creative writing courses available. I'm just hoping to write a murder mystery that I'm proud of and that a few people enjoy reading. If I get published I'll be really happy.

My other option is continuing with philosophy and writing a thesis that only two people will read. So I guess my expectations going into it are maybe a bit different from other aspiring writers.

We live in a house in the city but there was a moment there where we considered a loft closer to downtown. But I'd always kind of had a house/yard scenario in my head because of the way i grew up.

Looking back, both loft/city and house/city have their benefits. To me, being in a suburb would be... just not... very satisfying.

what the fuck happened in here

I don't think that it is a stretch to say that women generally enjoy more rights and more freedom in the West than in Muslim countries, but Islam is not the reason for that.

A lot depends on the cost of living and the size of the city you live in.

Cursory searches:
KC Missouri is 1 million people, median house price $150k

Austin Texas is closer to 2 million people, median house price is $250 k

Sydney is closer to 5 million people and the median house price is $1 million.

If we sold up and moved to either of your cities we could probably afford to buy an old manor home with land around it close to the centre of town.

And we would. But here, those houses cost $3 million dollars, so unless either of you have that kind of money, why question my decision to live further from the city?

A run down 2 bdrm cottage with 1 bathroom and that hadn't been renovated since the 70s, sold for $1.2 million last month, on our road, here in the burbs, 40 mins from the city.

It's just a different situation here, WRT housing.

"manor style with land around it" and "center city" are generally mutually exclusive

i have this feeling that you can't conceive of anything but suburban life

it reminds me of sim city when you get the "mayor's house" or whatever and can build it up on a mountain by itself

Who would do that, given the fluctuation?

But no, it's not. So I guess to buy a $1 million home here, you'd only need $750k in USD.
