On a slightly-related note on the topic of weight, there is a lot evidence showing that fat people are discriminated against in instances that shouldn't have anything to do with their weight, in similar ways that minorities or women are disciminated against. I also feel that the moralism shaming fatness often hides behind "concern for people's health" to mask reactions based on disgust.

But at the same time, I feel like a lot of Buzzfeed-feminists sort of respond to that culture with this weird fat denialism. I often see claims that weight has nothing to do with health, or inflated emphasis on the role of genetic disorders in weight, or this attitude that being concerned with fitness is somehow maladaptive and the sign of an eating disorder. Images like this just make me scratch my head:

well this as well.

But even larger men have boobs, you know? Anyone can grow boobs if they don't mind being fat. The hard part is being thin and having boobs, which is why some women who are able to be thin, get boob implants, because the two don't often go together (thin & big boobs)

I mean the point of me saying that is that if an objective woman had the choice of having to wear the hijab, or having to maintain a strict health and beauty regimen and be regarded with disgust if she didn't remove hair from parts of her body where it grows quite naturally, or wanted to eat burgers and drink beer and wear boys clothes and get fat with the boys, I think a lot of women would choose the hijab.

I was agreeing with whoever made the point (Trots?) that the Christian/Secular west isn't exactly female-friendly, if being unfriendly to females is a criticism we're going to level at the Islamic nations.

Here in Canada, the Conservos are trying to score political points by banning niqabs at citizenship ceremonies and using anti-Muslim dog-whistle politics that's ostensibly about "respect for women," meanwhile they are responsible for defunding programmes for women, reducing support for childcare, and are business partners with the Saudis.

For starters, if you say anything to that effect, another woman is likely to try and tear you down by listing your self admitted insecurities
