I used to often visit establishments where you can smoke inside and play poker for money. Those were my reckless days. It's been months since I've gone, and I really stopped going consistently way before that

anywhere in the US has poverty and gun violence.
which only really affects school going children, of course.
if we didn't have any school going children, we wouldn't really care about gun violence. i'm like bitch, bullets will never harm me. sticks and stones, y'all.

I know that came across badly but it's more for the reason that I'm mentally unstable enough as it is, that worrying about school shootings and the number of children in the city I live in going without basic needs like food, warmth, shelter, would just be too much for me to handle. Not to mention having to deal with an entirely privatised health system and an education system even more broken than the one here.

I wonder how fake the sand and water clarity was - on tv. if it wasn't fake, they did a damn good job at keeping that part of Florida clean.

and what about abduction. let's not forget to worry about abduction.
the best thing is to have a chat with your children about abduction, so that they can help you worry about it. this way, you don't have to do all the worrying on your own. it makes a difference.

Yeah I smashed that one out, alright!! Is Florida dirty, usually? I hadn't considered that. Probably a million little pieces of plastic floating in the water!! Oh that's a shame...I was really building it up in my mind as amazing place to visit. Especially because it's close to the other amazing place I want to visit - Manaus...

oh come on, it came out odd, but what she said is not unreasonable.
why choose to MOVE to a major US city with little children when you know you're gonna worry yourself stupid.
bettter education? yea no.
better healthcare? no.
less "crime" (of whatever category, really) - no
better landscape for kids than what she has? no

Not big money, 10, 20 dollar tournaments. Or "free to play" where you tip the dealer and hope to win the tournament for any pay off. Somehow I did that for years and managed to make no friends except for one who turned out to be am unstable, flakey cunt. Probably for the best.

Better job prospects and they'll be better socialized probably. Maybe. I don't know. I wish I lived in a big city. Orlando is the pits.

Oh yeah, I guess I meant anywhere in the U.S. available to us, which is major cities, given my husband's work. I should have specified that, you're right.

Pave a lot of the beaches here are like that, in terms of cleanliness. It's ridiculously beautiful here. I have no idea why people here take holidays in Fiji.

I guess we'd be better off visiting the Great Barrier Reef...funny how you never wanna go to the places that are most accessible to you!!

yea, same reason why Austrians go to Sweden on vacation and dream of Canada - woods and mountains and lakes and naaaature. like at home - but much cooler, of course!

I want to go to Alaska and Iceland - cold and snow like in the Alps, only harder to get there for me.

That sounds like fun. I love card games, though I'm no good at them really. You must be so shy to not make any friends, I reckon. Or maybe just discerning haha!! I'm totally insufferable, I talk to anyone and completely invade peoples' personal space without even realising it. I know it doesn't really come across here but I just love people and love to get to know them, whoever they are. Totally insufferable, as I say.

LOL @ Vix wanting to move to San Francisco. The most expensive city in north America. where companies like Google have private fleets of vehicles to pick up their employees so that they aren't burdened with having to share the train with poors.

great choice

Vix, just take a holiday in Florida. Bring your brats to Disney World, rent a car and drive to Key West. Get it out of your system. Plus you'll get to see it before it's gone. Cause in 50-100 years the Florida Keys will be under water, along with Miami.

Beaches where there is tourism will be clean. The oceans are very, very dirty though

Most of the secluded beaches we visit here (so ones that are not regularly groomed) are not what I'd consider dirty or polluted, though if the keys are full of trailer parks and the local government does not have an adequate waste management system, I can imagine things are different over there.

I see on Facebook those posts shaming people who litter in national parks, or deface them, and how other people jump in and say shame on you for publicising their bad behaviour, and that kind of stuff fills me with pessimism. Shame the shot out of those nature wrecking motherfuckers IMO.
