Not a question but thanks for making this place a shitload more tolerable. You're an exceptionally funny person and I admire your dignity and grace in the last few months.

I'm gonna miss you Luke.

goddamn it cancer indeed. :/
i wrote my farewell speech for work this morning. (could be pretty soon.) here's what I'm going to say:

I wanted to avoid lecturing or being trite, but I used to think that it was crucial to have a personal mission in life. I’ve changed my mind recently.

Defining a personal mission can be really be helpful for a lot of people – it has been for me in – but, ultimately,it doesn’t matter. it’s your
life, and at some point you are going to learn that your time is incredibly limited; if you can, spend it in service to those
things you truly care about. Might be your work, your art, your bank balance, your family; it doesn’t matter. Do that ceaselessly and it’s hard to imagine clocking off with too many regrets.

That's the best summation of life's purpose I've read in quite some time. Thank you for sharing this, honestly.

May you find peace. I second other comments about how you've faced this, how you've lifted up this board, etc.

Thank you.

once again I'm terrified to say something stupid to you. or rather terrified of not being able to express what I mean.

I want to hug you.
and I don't want to ask you the questions I'm thinking of.

You are a rare case of no-nonsense, rational thinking smart guy without ever coming across as hard, bitter, humorless or insensitive.
I have no idea how you do it, but I honestly admire it.

who is your favourite wgtn coffee roaster, and how do you take your coffee?

Where is your favourite place in wgtn?

What is your favourite NZ wine?

Do you have a favourite place in Central Otago?

Do you wish I'd been banned?

i have four unstable and untreatable brain tumours and so much swelling in my brain that there are no more viable options. this means that my likely demise will involve a catastrophic brain haemorrhage of some kind. it'll just happen and that'll be the end of it. meanwhile we're hoping i'll get a few months but it could happen at any time. so if this thread drops like a stone you can probably guess why

what is daily life like right now? are you suffering migraines or seizures due to the swelling? does knowing your prognosis make you anxious? depressed?
