Well see it sounded like you were originally implying that he was full of shit BECAUSE there is an older person than her, not because it's not on the internet. And that didn't make sense to me because that would prove nothing, wheras if the oldest person to ever live was 118 or younger, then he would absolutely be full of shit, either that or Poots simply misremembered her age.

Also there are plenty of stories found in magazines or books and shit that are not on the internet. Speaking of Wikipedia, a lot of the time Wikipedia doesn't cite another website, but does cite a book, magazine, basically any non-web archived source.

Also there are plenty of stories found on the internet that are spread far and wide, are easily searchable and thought to be true but are actually bunk or hoaxes.

I'm not trying to defend Poots here Euls, just suggesting that you step up your scepticism game

Yes, but it works because every time someone adds something poorly sourced or full of shit, someone can change it back. And if they keep adding crap, they will get banned. And if multiple people are shit editing (on really controversial articles), they'll lock a version and have to vote on all changes. I'm not saying nothing ever makes it through, but the bigger or more controversial a topic, the more likely dozens of people are watching it for vandalism. I have had first hand experience with this on the Dissociative Identity Disorder article. At one point I'd written about 1/3 of it myself.

Also, the fact that wikipedia has millions of articles makes it far more useful than a traditional encyclopedia.

personally I don't care for citation for a common sense anecdote - surgery for someone over 100 years old. duhuh.

doesn't matter if she was blind, deaf, or had a tumor. at that age you are likely to drop dead after the procedure, if it's from pneumonia you got in the hospital or the anesthesia was too much.
