I excluded them on the basis that they have no actual output so don't count in the classical sense of the word "worker". I was going to explain that but then didn't want to flood...

really? things must have changed. They were pretty well known when I was last in wellington as the firm that took all the work that the others turned their noses up at on account of it being too sleazy and commercial.

How many ministries and govt depts have you worked in, now?

still true afaik, but they also do a lot of other things which i can only assume means they have enough interesting/non-amoral clients to attract people who aren't desperate incompetents, or whatever it is you're alleging

drawing a rather long bow there, aren't we? do you take the same position when it comes to stay-at-home parents?

i think you'd be very surprised if you went for a job in the nz public service now. you've constructed a cushy little fantasy there but i don't know of a single public servant whose workplace is anything like that

yeah they're still the sloppy seconds firm, then. I only know the one person who has accepted a job there and as I have detailed...she was an ambitious plagiarist, so it was hardly surprising.

Well you're into your third straight term of National government - I worked in govt depts during the first two terms of a Labour govt. Swings and roundabouts I guess. I wouldn't come back to a National-led NZ!

I do agree with you about the squeeze being put on. I have two friends that I mourn for - both librarians at the National Library. Things are pretty horrendous there right now.

As for the number...hmmm. 5?

that's not what i was saying at all. i was saying it's not a binary. they manage to attract talented young lawyers but they also represent tobacco firms and other blights on the universe. you have to assume there's more to it than… you assume

Why's everyone have to harp on Vix all of the time? She seems like a nice, good-hearted person.

We're all just a united front of misfits and degenerates here anyways, may as well just embrace one another.

And no, we're actually not all misfits and degenerates. You are, yes. But many of us aren't.

Are you a fan of Ayn Rand?

Also base is a noun, in my book. If I'm describing behaviour, I prefer to use an adjective.

i have no idea what you mean by this

the correct answer is zero
I'm guess so. I've never known anyone who was interested in working there apart from the one I mentioned. I assumed there was a reason for that, too.

I meant sometimes when people are so unfamiliar with what constitutes an interesting and useful argument, and are generally only interested in poo-flinging matches, it seems wasteful to put time and energy into creating an interesting and useful argument when I have a huge steaming pile of poo ready to be flung.

Wow, never? Are you from Wellington originally or did you come for uni from somewhere else?

Randroids lack the self-awareness necessary to avoid identifying oneself as a Randroid.

I feel like maybe they've posted here before? Often the case with people who get the netpho value system off the bat.

lately people seem to be more receptive to this idea and i think that's good. what a shitty life it must be to be attracted only to children and never even do anything to anybody and have people want to kill you for thoughts in your head. of course when you do something you cross a line, but it is unknown how many people never do and just suffer by themselves or kill themselves etc
