The article vixnix posted isn't an op ed against sex education for children. It is about girls as young as 12 and 13 being coerced into doing things they don't want to by boys who are learning these things from pornography. Are you guys saying you're okay with this or did you just not read the article?

Anyone else observing things here should note the ugly irony of eulogy bashing jczeroman for opposing net neutrality but frothing at the mouth when suggested that the sex industry should also be regulated.

Oh yeah, if there's one thing we all advocate, it's young girls being coerced into sexual acts that they don't really want to do

You know why boys are coercing girls into doing things they don't want to do?

BECAUSE NO ONE TEACHES KIDS ANYTHING.

Not because of porn. Good God.

If you can't have a conversation with your eleven or twelve year old boy about consent, or if we can't agree that that is a subject that must be taught at that age, then that is the fucking problem.

The same "oh think of the children!" idiots are the ones who won't allow them to be taught the things they need to know.

Much easier to blame it on sleazy online porn then to take an inward look at our abject failures as a society.

I like how Julio misunderstands basic concepts so completely as to think I don't want the sex industry regulated. Like. What?

I am not defending all porn, by the way. A lot of straight porn ads I see while getting to my stuff disturb me a lot. But that's a different conversation.

And how poots things teaching consent is the equivalent of showing piss porn to kids.

As if piss porn is more harmful than a movie with a bunch of violent murders.

Vixnix what would you think if your boys had a subject in school where they spent a lot of time teaching consent?

I don't think pissing on people is a basic human act

But it is less harmful than murder.

Sex is a basic human act though and we should be able to talk about it. Especially with kids who have reproductive capabilities.

The cause is cited as pornography.

While it is absolutely a parent's duty to teach their kids right from wrong, parents also have a right to expect their children not be harmed from others who weren't taught right from wrong. That is where society steps in and why parental education can only go so far. Restricting access to porn should be an urgent priority among politicians, internet providers, and companies like google whose search engines are a portal to these things.

Even if pornography causes coercion and butt stuff, why would parents not have any involvement or responsibility for their children?

Parents aren't responsible for kids watching porn? Parents aren't responsible for their kids thinking coercion is okay?

Pornography is adult entertainment. Not intended for children. Who's fault is it that children get their hands on it?

Streaming sites should absolutely be done away with. Would you agree with that, Eulogy?

There is very little oversight on these sites. It is user uploaded content, meaning lots of "home video" and "amateur" video, and as such there is no guarantee the participants consented to their sex acts being viewed publicly. There is also no way to guarantee anyone in those videos are over 18. There is no way to verify that someone's sex video is not in fact a video taped rape. And one cannot "ethically consume" material by avoiding videos they suspect are harmful because the way advertising revenue works for such streaming sites is that it used to keep all videos uploaded regardless if you click on them or not.

We can't teach the environment about what the gas guzzler is doing to the atmosphere

Bad analogy is bad. Try again maybe.

Like, this board is harmful to children. Should we just get rid of the Internet because parents are too scared to talk to their children about sex?

Even subscription sites could still have user submitted content.

And what about free speech for those who want to share their amature videos or profit from them?

Yes I do largely agree with this. But I do use streaming sites... But only to steal videos from legitimate studios (shhhhhh).

Porn needs to be better regulated. But it can't be because, ew sex. Apparently.
