how is it relevant how far i currently live from the exact address i lived in? im in a suburb currently, it cant be gentrified. the previous place i rented was five mins down one street from where i grew up. that neighborhood is now completely flipped and costs way too mich for me to live there. theres an in-n-out there and the best taco shop in the whole wide world is gone after 30 years bevause the family is fighting over who gets to sell the land to developers. a taco shop that attracted the most diverse customer group ive ever seen. now the entire strip is being replaced with sushi bars, california bullshit and artisan tacos. now theres nothing but whites.

i dunno how you fix this but you seem not to be concerned

i work in the suburbs now and everyone that lives around there is complaining about how now that downtown got gentrified the city has been shipping a lot of the ex-residents out to the suburbs

dunno if that's necessarily true or not but that seems to be the biggest complaint i've heard from white suburbanites. kind of like that forced integration in schools thing that happened whenever ago when they shipped black kids to white schools and vice versa on purpose.

the low income residents are pushed out of their homes and go to the much cheaper suburbs, which prompts more whites to move closer to the city since the neighborhoods are "better." the demographic geography of this phenomenon is fascinating but very indicative of a heavily segregated society

i can't imagine how much money my city has spent painting the exterior street facing facade of a derelict building bright orange for example

i was reading some local quasi-reverse-racist blog the other day and it was really eye opening to the point that i didn't know what i was reading any more.

what the blogger was saying (and this is just what i was reading - it in no way reflects my own opinions or judgements on the matter) was that basically black people ruin things.

they then juxtaposed pictures of tribal hut villages next to modern haitian shed ghettos next to modern blighted buildings in the city

they said that segregation was an unfair social experiment gone wrong. slaves were released as free men to a society that views them as inferior and it sucks for everybody.

idk how i stumbled onto the blog and it sounds terrible and it was at times but some of it was legit underground local news reports and facts - i believe it may be linked to someone already working for a local paper.
