I'd live in Ukrainian village or humboldt but I actually heard some horror stories about humboldt and I need to be close to the expressway and if I lived either of those places I'd just be contributing to those gentrifications.

And if I can only live in the suburbs without feeling guilty then well no I won't do it.

Like if I moved to Pilsen right now I'd add 30 minutes to my commute and I'd ruin another community. So. ???

I represented a guy who lived in west Garfield park and his condo was so far under water it was literally laughable.

kinda stupid how they can't buy matching tables though. But that's an awesome vintage Coca-Cola ice chest.

actually, it sorta does look fucking stupid the more I look at the pic, I just noticed that the chairs are all mismatched too... And they look uncomfortable as hell. How "ironic".

I think I was just overtaken with some of the antiques they had hanging around.

My hood back in Wellington started getting gentrified about 20 years ago. First there was a growth of awesome cheap places to eat...and then dumb tasteless yuppies moved in and caused a boom of overpriced eateries with no character or heart, and kept paying yuppy prices until all the good cheap places began to close down.

I hate those stupid yuppies. But yeah I kinda agree with Eulogy - the students I used to eat with at the cheap places are now part of the problem, being yuppies at the overpriced places.

I don't even go to restaurants anymore unless it's like a date. What's the point? Theres so many great pubs out there with awesome, cheap food.

being born somewhere makes you part of the problem?

would my having a cell phone help you feel less guilty about gentrification?

That's why I asked how long you've been there. How many miles are you from the structure you grew up in?

"You know that storefront that's been empty for eight years? They're putting a restaurant in there ugh."

That's all I'm taking issue with. Gentrification is a complicated problem.

Yes? I'm just asking the question. I don't know your life story guy.

And suburbs are all shitty chain restaurants and not fancy hipster places, right?

The thing to take away is that every neighborhood is different I guess. A particular block around here has exploded with new stuff, but there was literally nothing there before. All the no nonsense authentic Mexican, Cuban, Costa Rican, Polish, etc places are still here.

A delicious Peruvian place replaced a nightclub that replaced a shitty pizza joint. And a brewery opened across the street from it. I'm not gonna get mad about that.

And the brewery didn't replace anything. It's next to the expressway.

I see what's happening to housing costs. People are probably going to be priced out of my neighborhood within five to ten years. Not everyone because there seems to be a lot of stable families and stuff but yeah.

We're hoping to move next year though. To a place where people are likely already getting priced out.

But again

What should I do
