there's a microbrewery opening up in my hood soon...
that's a first for the area and it's probably gonna attract some people from outside. it might stimulate commerce but i'm not sure, though.

frankly i feel a bakery would be more welcome.
there were just two or three empty storefronts left last year but now it's starting to empty up again, big time.

D. - your brewery Boulevard has got to be one of the best I've come across, and Tank 7 is heavenly.

I can also throw my support behind Nooner. A beer that makes tasteful use of hops I can go for. I'll say the same for Anchor Steam and its variants

i met him at a showing of a video someone found in a dead neighbor's house - an old neighbor of my mom's from childhood. apparently a man with a video camera (very rare/expensive at the time) and recording equipment in his home would record the neighborhood kids for fun (my mom and some of her siblings included). there's footage of my mom in his home messing with his reel to reel. kids skipping rocks. sliding down hills on cardboard boxes. eating outside a sno-cone place. having a pie fight. riding bikes. etc... he put the footage to music and when he died his wife wanted the "brooks street gang" (what he named the video) to have it.

i get way too self conscious filming children. i feel like everyone thinks i'm a creep.

I still haven't done the tour because I'm a lazy asshole. I did go there once but it was an after hours thing for B.'s cousin's work.
