i think they meant how the graphics can look like shit on pc ports because of the hi-res hard pixels of the monitor trying to translate what should be soft linear graphics originally meant for a tv.

Haven't played ff7 pc but I bought ff8 when it came out on steam and the prerendered backgrounds looked like shiiiiit and the music was terrible. Not unplayable they really need to come out with new versions of these. Not full on remakes just something you don't need to install mods for

when i played it as a youngling i didn't really second guess the whole GF system. i knew it was different but i rolled with it without any problems

FF8 i think was the first time i was really really hyped and very very disappointed by something...no that was football pro 95 actually but FF8 was up there

then there was machina
bush v gore and then 9/11 happened

now i expect everything to suck

Pretty much all of this. There were a lot of things about 8 that could have been great, but all of them ultimately failed.

Kinda cool they had the whole button mashing to 'boost' your GF's. Shitty that about half of the battles basically REQUIRED you to use the GF's. Shitty that without boosting them, they were gigantic pussies.

Kinda cool they used the Draw system for magic and you would tie it to statistics that you wanted to boost. Shitty that you could never get good draw points. Shitty that you could never boost the things you wanted to without the proper GFs to 'activate' those stat boosts.

Kinda cool they created the Triple Triad. Shitty that NONE of the rewards were worth it. "You can trade this ultra-difficult to get card for 20 thingies to turn into 99 thingies." I don't give a shit. I shouldn't need 99 thingies to beat Edea at the end of the game. I should have root strength/skill/magic abilities WITHOUT spamming something like Ultima or KOTR in order to win.

Kinda cool that they put in a few side quests. Shitty that none of the other sidequests were worth it either.

Kinda cool they added 'Weapons.' Shitty that none of those were worth it.

The story and characters? Shitty shells of previous characters. Further explanation: I am fully aware that they keep recycling not only classes but characters overall in the FF series, piggybacking on fan favorites and easy stereotypes, etc etc, see Monk or Beastmaster or Ninja.
