Actually all those things, except the doctor part I would be totally OK with instead of thinking my best and only friend when I was in 5th grade was moving out and i'd never see her again.
It was world shattering news at that point

I was in 5th grade at the time of the story which is why it was a big deal.

What a stupid fucking thing to be picked on and have to clarify, lol.

Haha I actually got a good chuckle outta this one.

It's funny cause it's true.

Outta all the funny people on Cheers they give Frasier the spin off. It's blasphemy I tell ya.

you know unlikable ppl are prime fodder for comedy. always sunny, fawlty towers, etc

i thought niles was sympathetic and more likeable than frasier. he was uptight but not overbearing unlike maris or frasier, who pushed him around

Lewis from Drew Carey does come to mind when I think of unlikable characters that were funny and made shows worth watching.

Niles to me was like the way Frasier started out on Cheers. An uptight doormat type. An omega male. Frasier eventually loosened up on Cheers but was still far from charming.

I guess you can add Craig Ferguson's Mr Wick character to the list of unlikable characters that made the Drew Carey show so funny. But the difference is that Mr. Wick was cartoonish and almost a charicature. The Niles and Frasier characters are a lot more true to life. Niles just comes off as being pathetic most of the time.

These are the kind of threads we're gonna dig up when we look back and make jokes after CW is in the news for a public mass shooting spree.

The Drew Carey shows terrible.

Weren't you one of the people who made fun of me for liking 2 and a half men? They're pretty much the same show except that I actually find 2 and a half men funny.

I wasn't one of the people who made fun of you for that. But I agree with most people here that it's not a good show. It's more low brow than Drew Carey.

They're both just you stereotypical, slapstick comedies at the heart of it all. But as I said, the humour in 2 and a half men cracks me up whereas they Drew Carey show really hasn't aged well at all.

Also, I really liked the cast. I've always loved Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryers great in it.

With that said, Charlie Sheens in a new show that's created by the writers from the Drew Carey show and it sucks ass too.

Ehhh I'd disagree with that. Sure there might be more of a slapstick element, but it's pretty clever at times.

Drew Carey show was just sorta taking the Friends shtick, but doing it with your "fun, every day, regular people".

Drew Carey show was actually more formulaic too... Oh theres Mimi cutting down Drew Again, oh then theres the underlying sexual tension between Drew and whatever the female characters name was.

Sure 2 and the mens pretty stupid and all, but it's not really formulaic on an episode basis.

Never watched it.

Seems too stupid. "Since everyones struggling out there and the economy is in the dumps- Let's make a show about 2 broke attractive girls, the American public will love and relate with that".

Part of 2 and Half Mens brilliance was that the writing for the Charlie Sheen character closely mirrored the kind of guy he was in real life. So he wasn't even really acting really, and that's why it transcends so well in a comedic fashion.

The one where Frazier faces his subconscious where his mother, first ex-wife, Lilith and Diane are all at this cabin with him might be the greatest sitcom episode ever.
