That is an interesting concept. It sort of ties in with Yahweh as the great deceiver and that prayer is his way of finding out where the weaknesses are among us and he sends his minions to those focal points to make things worse.

One of the most prominent programs is known as FAST (Future Attribute Screening Technology). According to Wikipedia, this pre-crime system is already so advanced that developers claim that it has about an 80% success rate…

Future Attribute Screening Technology (FAST) is a program created by the Department of Homeland Security. It was originally titled Project Hostile Intent. The purpose is to detect “Mal Intent” by screening people for “psychological and physiological indicators” in a “Mobile Screening Laboratory”.

The program was under the Homeland Security Advanced Research Agency and the Science & Technology Human Factors Behavior Science Division of DHS. In a meeting held on July 24, 2008 the DHS Under Secretary Jay Cohen stated, the goal is to create a new technology that would be working in real time as opposed to after a crime is already committed.

New surveillance cameras will use computer eyes to find 'pre crimes' by detecting suspicious behaviour and calling for guards

P.K.D. coined the term of course and its now part of the academic lexicon in criminology. Currently an old theme has been greatly expanded in law enforcement; the ability for cops to subdue suspects on the assumption they may hurt someone later. They're getting greater latitude for aggressive action in situations they deem could escalate if they don't subdue (by any means necessary) a suspect who is being non-violent.

It's called predictive programming.

It's not predictive. They have to tell you what they are going to do to you, before they actually do it. It's a spiritual, universal law. They can't make you the sacrifice without your knowing and accepting it on a subconscious level.

surely you of all people are well aware that you're being recorded as soon as you approach/enter any business or public building – closed-circuit cameras are ubiquitous in western cities

ah, but no. this is what pisses you off. 50 lampposts in florida using infrared proximity sensors to detect when carparks are available

Just another brick in the wall, an advanced tech one at that. I knew back in the day when I saw the first cameras at ATM machines that it would come to this.

Emotion has little to do with it anymore. It's just awareness.

if you have a moment, perhaps i can raise your awareness in another area

this is not advanced tech. proximity sensors were first developed in the 1950s – every time an automatic door opens for you, a proximity sensor of some kind has been triggered. the only difference here is that each sensor is connected to a small computer that stores and uploads the data it collects to a server via wi-fi. i assume you're familiar with computers/storage/servers/wi-fi so i won't elaborate on those except to note that the first version of the 802.11 wi-fi protocol was released in 1997

meanwhile, LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode and is simply a more energy-efficient method of generating light compared to incandescent bulbs, which waste let off a lot of waste thermal radiation in the infrared spectrum in addition to the visible light spectrum. LEDs are cheaper to operate – that's why people use them

I hear your point, but the overall point is that its advanced for street lights. I guess not so much another 'brick in the wall' but one more layer to the grid.

that's just projecting your low expectations for lampposts onto municipalities like jacksonville, isn't it? why shouldn't the humble streetlight join the march of technological progress?

It's a massive surveillance system in the guise of security and/or convenience. One step closer to pre-crime control which will allow the state to prosecute on thought and emotion, as opposed to acting on those. Hate crimes the pre-curser.

But hey, as long as its sold to the sheep out there as greater security and justice, then by all means, roll with the technocracy.

there's already a massive surveillance system

but the lampposts are not a massive surveillance system. and they are not a part of the massive surveillance system that already exists. to insist otherwise is spurious. the only things the decidedly unexciting tech in those lampposts are good for are convenience and efficiency

Hey TOC had it ever occurred to you that people might take your views a little more seriously if you even once entertained the notion that maybe even just one of the things you've said here could be wrong or a misinterpretation? To me an unwillingness to contemplate alternative scenarios is indicative of fundamentalism or fanaticism, and aren't those the enemies of common sense?

Here you are worrying about street lights when a dirty bomb could go off, Isis coming over the border of Mexico or Nibiru shows up. Just saying...
