The actual dream was pleasant and then I wake up and it's not reality

not emotionally, but one bazillion body parts exploded with her blood on me.

that sounds shitty.

i have recurring dream themes a lot. last night i had one where im with my ex and we are about to have sex and i tell him he needs a condom and he goes 'it's none of my concern if you get pregnant or not' and then he proceeds to choke and rape me

and then the police come and are asking me all of the questions and i realize i dont remember what was on the tv or how low the lights were dimmed or any of these details they are asking me

i cried yesterday, its not fair when young, witty people are stolen from us because of disease.

i got misty writing that. i cry easier these days after my aunt died of cancer, a good hard cry helps,

one time i was listenimg to a story abt veterans on npr and this guy said his flashbacks were triggered by his tinnitis. so basically as soon as things are calm and quiet he goes back to remembering iraq. i had to pull over to the side of the road and cry my eyes out

this world is brutal

I didn’t exactly cry, but welled up a bit watching TV last week.

I was watching a reality show about doctors, and this man of about 55-60 was basically being told he had the first stages of dementia. He seemed like a very proud man and when they were telling him about his low scores on memory and such, he was endearingly defensive, saying “My memory is no worse than anyone else my age...” and basically trying to play it down.

The doctor said he could attend their “Memory Clinic” once a week, and he just looked really sad and repeated “Memory Clinic...” as if he felt patronized or something. It’s hard to explain why it moved me, but then I’m not great at explaining things. I just found it poignant.

I think it vaguely reminded me of my late father, who didn’t have dementia but terminal cancer, but he held onto his pride till the end, always understating his agony and still caring about everyone around him (whereas I’d probably retreat into myself even more).

it does have benefits if you file jointly but it can't make your tax less than 0 like the earned income credit can. which you probably do qualify for, im not sure how it works but it always gets me a couple hundred dollars. it gets people with kids a lot more.

I think the definition of rich here doesn't match reality most of the time.

look im not talking about you having millions of dollars, but when you have to choose between a month at your summer home or a month traveling europe clearly you are living a different lifestyle. i mean it sucks you have to pay taxes. but have some perspective about what kind of life you lead where you can pay these taxes to help others and still live luxuriously.

i dont plan on being poor forever but god i hope i dont start complaining about paying taxes, someone slap me if i do.

I can't fathom how a person can live on $12,000 annually, true. However that's a separate issue than my disdain for extortion currently applied by the government.

Edit: I should probably bow out of this conversation ..l

I don't live on $12,000, I am on a program called Ticket to Work for people getting off disability and I soon will have to take out school loans. However, I also spend about $6000 on medical care every year, plus my $105 a month Medicare Part B and $25 for my Part D. Plus you know, normal medical care. This is just disability related I am counting in the 6k.

So I end up living on about $16,000 after disability related expenses. For rent, car, food, gas, taxes, other medical expenses, insurances, etc.

Does it bother you that your taxes help fund programs for people like me to get back in the workforce? Or is it just about the gov't taking money from you in general? Serious question, curious.

I'm not complaining, btw, about my income. I will be off of TTW in the next about two years and my education will cost about twice as much starting next year when I go to a different school. Right now my Pell grant covers all of it. Soon I will have to come up with about $5k a year for it on top the grants. I should get some scholarships, maybe enough for all of it but probably not.
