I know people who have occasionally said that they'd love to relive high school or be a kid again. When I think of that I want to kill myself. I can't think of anything more horrible.

Wouldnt do HS over no but my childhood i'd redo the exact same way in a heartbeat. I was lucky that way. I had a terrific childhood. I miss it daily. Which is sad to say, and part of my problems i think. I mean i suppose grade school wasn't that easy for me but most anything else was great. I've spent a good part of my adult life chasing after my childhood.....

Teen years is when shit started (though in hindsight, the way i was as a child should have made it obvious my teens would be terrible), I'd redo my teens only so that it could be different. I certainly wouldn't want it to be the same.

There is nothing as horrible than my adult life though in my teens. But well..adult life has been some really bad an some good. Whereas teens...the bad outweighs the good.

I had a dream last night that involved old Nintendo Power magazines and i woke up thinking i'm gonna get my box of old NP mags out and just leaf through them for a while. Then changed my mind because this would accomplish nothing aside from making me nostalgically sad for my childhood (probably to tears if i'm honest). I find enough opportunities to do this in my life as it is. Its pathetic that at 36 i still haven't let go of it. Deep down i haven't truly accepted it had to end.

If someone was really serious about that, they could try to give themselves MPD by traumatizing themselves. I wonder if anyone's ever done that before?

I met someone that claimed to have MPD and claimed to be able to shift between personalities at will, they seemed quite proud of that ability.

But, Trotskilicious seems to be such a perfectionist about everything, even that may not be enough for his high standards.

But first of all the term doesn't exist anymore. It'd DID. Dissociative identity isorder. Which is more loosely defined. To quote wiki:

"No systematic, empirically-supported definition of "dissociation" exists"

Also from wiki

"DID is one of the most controversial psychiatric disorders with no clear consensus regarding its diagnosis or treatment."

Certainly the way you've seen it portraye in movies has pretty much never happened. Or at least been generally proven to be bull.

I don't know what's going on in anyone else's consciousness. I don't even understand my own consciousness that well.

When it comes to something like multiple personalities, I think that it could be faked but when it comes to the actual experience of it from the perspective of the person experiencing it, who knows what they're feeling and going through?

Some religious people think multiple personalities are an expression of possession by "spirits", any thoughts on that possibility?

I've met someone with DID. They didn't start speaking as if they were an entirely different person when their switch flipped, but they would always freak out and do nothing but cry and forget where they were, what year it was, and what was really happening.

as far as OP/trots goes I feel like every person has this feeling, especially whenever your regrets start to tip the scale. i'm unsure if you're looking for a completely new legal identity or you just want to go someplace where nobody knows your name though. or maybe you wish you could go back in time and change decisions you've made?
