Betsey Trotwood is good. And just steps from where I lived for four months.

Pretty unrealistic. I can make you a list of places to look into, but you aren't going to be able to cram much more in there. I'd drop the Isle of Man because it's time-consuming to get there, and you only have 11 days.

Isn't Loch Ness supposed to be lame? You could probably skip Ireland too but if you do go everyone says Galway is a lot more fun than Dublin. I've never been to either though.

When I lived in Manchester and my father came to visit me, we managed to do these in 15 days:
London (3 days) Edinburgh (2 days) Liverpool (1 day) Conwy/Caernarfon/driving around Snowdonia (1 day) Keswick and the stone circle nearby (1 day) Chester (1 day) Buxton and Haddon Hall in the Peak District (1 day) Manchester I also LOVE the Dark Peak area of the Peak District, around Edale; York is worth a visit; etc. The only problem with most of these is that day trips aren't really doable from London. Bath is lovely. Beachy Head/Eastbourne are nice if it's sunny. I wouldn't waste my time going to Inverness - I did enjoy it, and I do recommend it, but 11 days isn't a lot. If you're going to Scotland, go to Edinburgh instead. Easier to get to, and it's awesome. Cambridge is very easy to get to from London, and it makes a nice day trip (though I prefer Oxford as a city). |

It's just pretty landscape I want to see more or less. But it's pretty far from everything else we were looking into visiting. So it's totally on the B list because of that. My buddy implored I visit Ireland while I'm there. In fact he said I should spend more time in Ireland? Iono. |

- dinner at Gymkhana
- Spend a day at Hampstead Heath - stand to the right on esculators - another great pub is Andover Arms. - Borough Market early Saturday morning - British Museum and the V&A Base your stay in London and do day trips. You lose too much time traveling and don't get to experience anything by jumping around every two days. Then if you want to get in the country, do that at the end so you can drip the car near Heathrow on the flight home. We'll be in London in May for 2 weeks to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, too. Congrats! |

Yeah, I agree.
I'd base my stay in London. BUT if your plan is to rent a car and go on an adventure (without using London as a base), I'd recommend something like this:1. Arrive in London and stay a few of days there. 2. Day trip to Bath or Cambridge by train. 3. From London, rent a car and drive north to Nottingham and Derby. From Derby (don't stop there), just follow the Transpeak route through the Peak District and stop whenever you find a place that looks interesting to you. I recommend Matlock Bath and Buxton. The countryside is lovely there. 4. Arrive in Manchester. From there, you have a couple of options. Either go to Snowdonia in North Wales (lots of impressive castles, and a beautiful mountain range), or head north through the Lake District (which is also stunning), stopping along the way. From there, you can probably find your way to Edinburgh too. Spend a couple of days there and fly back to London. The thing about the the UK is that the countryside up north is stunning. The south really pales in comparison. It might be worth it if you don't mind driving a lot. |

Mine too. We're staying across the street on our visit, which is a total surprise to the wife. She won't know where we are going until we get to Dulles.
Greenwich is a great day too, especially if you like maritime history. |

British museum was good
Henley on Thanes is really nice for a drive through the countryside and then a high tea on the river Windsor castle and Eton are nice but I was staying in Windsor so it's hard to tell if we only went there and enjoyed it because we were there already. There was a nice old pub there too. It's definitely doable to fit Ireland in, London-Dublin is only an hour via plane, though it's a whole day drive to the pretty areas like Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. If I were you I would sandwich a 4 day stay in Ireland with 3 days in England/Scotland on either side. |
