I spend my working day helping out cancer patients in poverty get some kind of financial assistance because the government sure as hell doesn't provide it. That's only one aspect of my job. But to you, I'm paid right on target, because I'm a loser who got a degree in history instead of business. Yeah fuck me right? There should be trap degrees.

Serious question trots. Who are you trying to get financial assistance from for these people if not from the government? Who else will give financial assistance to any type of medical patient in poverty. I only know 2 entities. Government and charity. Who is the third party??

-most of my grade school teachers were either terrible or were great but also neurotic and unreliable

-i've liked the vast majority of my undergrad teachers so far. they have been enthusiastic and helpful. i can only think of one who i really disliked but it was a bullshit required computer literacy course and he is a programmer so of course he hates having to teach people what RAM means. he let you do your work at home and just drop it off so i barely saw him anyway.

-teachers deserve a good salary. they may not be *heroes* but the good ones really change lives. unfortunately, you cannot pay them based on how much they care.

I have a history degree. I'm very lucky to have the job I have now. 25 years after I started working here I wouldn't hire anybody today who had my old resume. Now it's MBA grads and interns straight from other big companies.

Its sad bcause the business always complains of emps having a lack of critical thinking, writing and comm skills but they dont hire ppl with BAs, the majors for exactly those skilks...theres nothing a buisiness degree would teach me that i couldnt learn after six mos on the job but i dont get that chance. One big issue I have is that in business extroverts are valued more than introverts. Extroverts for the most part run everything. And they look for themselves in the people they promote. There's a whole industry of bogus organization improvement crap that business leaders waste money on. Tho gs like team building programs, org hierarchy, etc that are all focused on trying to make everyone extroverts. Even the modern "open office" is designed around the assumption that everyone will be more productive if they work like extroverts.

Problem is most people aren't extroverts. And there's no research whatsoever that suggests introverts are less productive.
