we all went to school, we should already know about 10% of the teachers we've had in our lives were worth a fuck

it's not the pay that's keeping people away from teaching

I don't know, most of my teachers did not give two shits about being there. It almost seems like the younger I was the less they gave a shit too. Like, those were my most formative years, teachers that threw a book at me and told me to do the questions on page 48 and stop fucking talking

that's what i'm saying this old meme about how teachers are put upon underpaid heroes is so laughabe

i even did sub teaching and teachers are often dead eyed rule drones that are basically just doing day care for a bunch of kids the system already gave up on

turning the computer on and double clicking on their TAKS prep game is the only skill they need to have mr. sweeney

"but they are 12 and can't type"

we are not teaching them how to type, mr. sweeney.

I mean the very fact that their teaching is standardised suggests that the teachers are obviously not the ones that made it that way or that they want to

You didn't want to teach kids to the standardised test and were asked to not come back

and you wonder why there are so few or no teachers like you

I don't even know how it relates to what we're talking about. i can't even get into the multiple different ways that he didn't get it

the final parting shot is the best part, i wasn't going to be their teacher at any point i was just there for the interim and their interim plan for these kids was to play the same math game for six months

and shallowed is defending this as an institution

it's amazing

All the teachers I've had were constantly complaining about standardized testing and such and how it forced them onto useless curriculums

I had three good high school English teachers and two good math ones.

I consider myself lucky in that regard.

I think there were teachers I didn't like but then the guy next to me liked that teacher which explains the 10% thing

people who enthusiastically participate in a shitty system are just as culpable. what you don't realize is that standardized testing is popular with the majority of teachers because above all, it's fucking easy.

and i've known teachers who knew who how to break the rules, they're the 10% and yeah they get fired

It's interesting that there's a branch of teacher hate even among liberals
