Also just opened an umami burger which I'm also a little intrigued by. And that's way easier to get to.

I'm also trying to eat better though soooooooo

Each November a place by us does a turkey burger with gravy, tempura fried stuffing, cranberry sauce, and I think some other stuff and I need it right now even though I am generally anti-turkey burger.

My thing now is to be good during the week and then kinda do whatever I want on the weekends. Within reason.

http://www.burgerfuel.com/nz/index make good burgers.

I hate bad service. I don't mind ambivalent service, but power-tripping, I-can't-do-that-for-you-because-i-don't-want-to-and-i-enjoy-being-in-control really grinds my gears. i never say anything though, unless I've paid money. then i'll occasionally ask for a refund or refuse to pay.

that's institutional corporate directive, not individual people "power tripping"

they'll get a promotion for being like that

being compassionate or making exceptions will get you fired

Nah, I don't reckon. I worked in a call centre for a power company, and I rolled out the company line to people who couldn't pay their bills and were about to be disconnected, but openly stated that I was sorry (because I was) and that it was out of my hands (because it was) and that I couldn't change company policy (because I couldn't).

Additionally, because I had actually listened during my training, and am able to retain information, I knew which number they could call for financial assistance. And I could tell them that if they could get to the welfare office and obtain an emergency payment, and phone me back on my DDI before the end of the day with the receipt number, I could cancel the disconnection. And I could also phone the contractor who had been assigned the disconnection job, and ask them to put it off until the end of the day, to save the customer from disconnection and reconnection fees.

I never had any escalations...I did have someone say "I hope your kids die, you fucking cunt." and hang up on me. He was really in a rage and I will never really recover from that. My listen-ins always noted my ability to resolve conflict and make appropriate credit arrangements.

It wasn't hard to do what I saw as being the right (compassionate, diligent) thing to do.

But there were people I worked with, who, in the same situation, would speak to customers in such a cold and callous way. They never offered to call contractors or gave advice on where the nearest welfare office was and how the customer could obtain an emergency payment, and what to do with it. They would say, in that horrible, cold voice "I'm sorry Mrs. XXX, but you have had two notices prior to this disconnection notice, during which time you were free to call and make arrangements for payment. The contractor has already been notified of the job."

They were horrible and some did get promoted. But it was a fairly even split between them and the nicer team leaders and 2ICs. To get to be a manager you had to be an asshole though, it's true.

But nobody was actually fired for going the extra mile for those who needed help, or for showing compassion.

But when I get those power tripping people it takes everything I have not to scream at them and it really, really grinds my gears. Because I know first hand, that I'm speaking with the kind of jerk who'd rather be promoted than be a decent human being.

Not on, but I might dip it a bit. That's for the fries.

Thank God you can order it now. I have several bottles here waiting to be devoured.

On the subject of food my friend just went and got us Mexican food and he went to Chipotle instead of the hundred other better authentic small buiss. places. This is the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Why does anyone eat here

Chipolte is adequate if you're void of anything else except Taco Bell. It sucks but if you want some fake Mexican-inspired shit fine.

But with another option? Fuck that noise.

I eat absolute shit food and don't really care but this is the most noticeable downgrade I've ever seen in food quality from authentic to fake. And it's not like Chipotle is any cheaper

back to whataburger a couple thoughts, since i am fat and texan and think about whataburger a lot

1) i don't care for ketchup that much but being able to buy whataburger mustard is gorgeous
2) I know that chicken strip sandwich is probably far and away the most favorite specialty burger but as far as the all time favorites are concerned i like the a1 thick and hearty burger (i even found a teeshirt at goodwill) and the patty melt more. and then the new seasonals the avacado bacon burger and ESPECIALLY the hatch green chile burger knock my face off
3) i think nearly every child growing up in texas goes thru a phase where they think it's called WATERBURGER
