I'm going to guess that their days look a lot like the education Alexis Neiers (bling ring) got

http://video.vulture.com/video/Prett...isplays-The-An

She made some of their curriculum up from the book The Secret, and some of their other lessons were on meditating with crystals.

That's the problem. The school structure is broken and it's generally a lousy experience for most people. I certainly didn't take much from it. The old traditions need to be thrown out the window and they have to restructure these curriculums from the ground up. Kids aren't being taught the things that can actually benefit them later on in life.

The reason why nothing gets done about it is because the people in power have the same attitude about it as you do. "Oh well, we did it and had to put up with all the shit, no reason our kids shouldn't"

I can't see why anyone here cares about what Will Smiths kids say either. I didn't even bother to read it. They're 14 and 16. Of course they're going to be stupid little shits. It seems like a lot of people are just envious and jealous of their privileged up-bringing.

Nope. It doesn't work because it doesn't integrate anything into a childs life that will actually benefit them for their future. You get taught these useless math riddles and other useless shit when they should be teaching these kids how to be a better person, how to deal with problems, how to be the best adult you can be.

Teach the kids how the world really works... Sure, teach sciences about useful environmental aspects... But most of the shit you learn in science class is useless nonsense that you'll never consider or care about again in your life.

The school systems a joke. Good on the Smith kids for not dealing with that bullshit.

I don't make fun of anyones taste of music. I make fun of the sheep that'll automatically "like" any trendy band to fit in. These hipster guys follow a uniform to a tee.

I'd much rather listen to bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn over Vampire Weekend, Foster the people and Animal collective any day, any hour, any minute.

Sure, Limp and Korn created horrible trends and dumbass fans too. But the music at least had energy and conviction.

And people who are the age now that you were when you got into LB and Korn think this about the current bands they like. And the generation before you thought the same thing about the bands they liked. Hell, even stuff like the Backstreet Boys sounds much better to me than One Direction, but that doesn't mean it actually is better. And I never even liked the boy band stuff in the first place.

You are emotionally attached to what you were exposed to at an emotional time in your life (E.G. adolescence).

how the world really works, is that for example how vegas controls a couple of sport games every week? why didn't they teach us that in school? you know, useful stuff. about the world and about life.

I've relaxed. But i find it appalling some people think they seem like decent kids or that they may turn out to be alright.

I mean if you're rich and famous i would say raising a decent kid is actually probably much much harder. But teaching them humility should be your main concern. Teaching them the privilege they have. And....teaching them not to say terribly ignorant stupid shit to the media. Their smugness is hard to bear. I think either two things, this interview was originally engineered to make the smiths kids sound good and it backfired badly ( i mean some of those questions) OR it was engineered to make them sound bad from the get go

Schools also teach tolerance, encourage empathy and proper socializing, and expose you to works you wouldn't otherwise know to seek out. It's obvious these kids are living in a bubble...sometimes it's good to have the other kids knock you down a few pegs. These Smith kids clearly need a lesson in humility and diversity.

the only school these kids should be enrolled at is Sunnydale High. Right on the day the Hellmouth swallows it.

yes that too. And i'm actually partly in agreement with fuzzy that the modern school system has big flaws but i think fuzz missed on that..part of the reason why you're taught shit you don't care about is because part of the point of school, well grade and mainly high school, is to expose kids to a variety of different things so they can figure out what it is they might like to do with their lives. I didn't really get that as a teen of course. But i hated maths, and my best friend loved it and ended up going into sciences. While i figured out that hard cold logic and sciences, while some of it interesting, was really not something i cared to pursue. that's something i learned in HS by failing math classes...

Definitely though in school in general, the arts aren't valued enough. It's still treated as that thing that you might like as a hobby but please don't get ideas that you might want to be an artist k? Because that's just stupid and impractical. And sure it kinda is and certainly not everyone can be one but do you need to actively discourage kids away from the arts? It really felt this way to me.

On the other hand, the smiths kids seem to not have been encouraged into anything else. No what you do see is act and sing. Because its not hard to when your dad has all the money and influence he has. But making art is pointless if you've got nothing interesting to express. Or anyway nothing that the vast majority of people can relate to.

what I find horrible about these kids isn't just the bat shit crazy things they say. It's the fact that they have a father who rants about things like the vulgarity of hip hop. He refused even to use "curse words" in his music because he believes he has a responsibility to act as a roll model and not perpetuate negative stereotypes. He's ranted and lectured other celebrities in the past for their horrible behavior.

And then he raises his kids in a Hollywood bubble of privilege, vanity and egoism. Which if you ask me is far more vulgar than using the words shit or damn in public

They're not deluded and smug because they're rich and indulged. They're under parented, which has resulted in narcissism. Trying to convince themselves that they're better than everybody else gives them a way to battle the insecurity that resulted from them not being given much of their parents' time. In their minds, being interesting to lots of other people will make up for not being interesting to their own mother and father.

Trust me, it takes one to know one....
