When you say that you have a right to vote for who can and can't get married you are shitting all over the concept of minority rights.

The point is that regardless of what the majority voting public thinks, you can not have laws that are discriminatory.

This is why MLK cited the Constitution when fighting for Civil Rights. It didn't matter that the voting public was racist, they could not constitutionally have the discriminatory laws that they did.
