the DC court held the map was drawn with a discriminatory purpose after that thread. I don't know what happened after that but maybe I'll look this weekend.

I don't have time to comb through it now but what exactly did I say that was wrong

Or wait I might be getting cases mixed up. But my first post in that thread was pretty fucking prescient with regard to the VRA.

Ok I read the thread and nothing I said in it was wrong. That specific case might even be still pending. But at worst I made an incorrect prediction. So. Not sure what you find so amusing.

And before you accuse me of supporting the way we make districts, please read the post I made in that thread describing what I would ideally like to have. Thanks.

I can't find the subsequent history for this case. But the case number at the DC fed court was 11-1303. If you care to try and find it. Which I don't imagine you do.

This has nothing to do with my beliefs. Absolutely nothing. The fact that you think it does says a lot about how you operate, generally.

And something has to have happened. It's either still pending or was decided one way or the other. But you don't care to look because you would rather try to shit on me. Even though when I ask what I said that was wrong you have no answer.

Sweet merciful christ.

Corbett fucked his dumb ass by touching the education budget. I welcome our new socialist overlord Tom Wolf.

PS I hope Corbett gets hit by a car ASAP. Fuck that guy.

Also I did a write-in against Tim Murphy. Fuck him too. My sister worked for him for years and she left after she was treated like shit. His office instantly handed me off to their campaign side the moment I mentioned pay. They're crooked and ultimately shitheads.

Speaking of Austin, maybe I should move there instead of LA. Everything I read says it's pretty much the place for young white liberals.

But the idea of living in Texas is like Bleh

re: gerrymandering. check out FL-9:

Corrine Brown represents this district and usually wins by 40 points or so. A judge ordered the maps be redrawn because fucking duh. This was her response to it.

Quote:
“I’m disappointed with the ruling,” Brown said, elaborating on a lengthy statement she released Thursday night on the matter. “Yeah, of course.”

“Let me just tell you, I don’t care who’s happy,” she said, visibly agitated, at the final House votes of the week. “The point of the matter is that we celebrated in this Capitol last week the 1965 Voting Rights Act. It is the law of the land.”

“And we will go all the way to the United States Supreme Court, dealing with making sure that African Americans are not disenfranchised.”

“We’re not going back,” she added. “We’re not going to be disenfranchised.”

“Period,” she said, raising her voice for emphasis. She added that this is a threat “to every African American elected official in every capacity.”
So in spite of the maps being drawn to favor republicans running for office, she is siding with them on the matter so she can run unopposed every two years in spite of being wholly incompetent and corrupt.

I don't remember what you said last week, let alone two years ago.

Also, there's a thing called news, which is how I learn about what's going on in the world. I don't get my information on politics from your old posts.

The Austin gerrymandering issue, for instance, was recently on the John Oliver show. And the gerrymandering and fraud that went on out in the open under Tom Delay was well reported at the time (a decade or more ago) in some of the national media.

I don't think CA is super economically liberal, but for sure socially liberal enough to be terrified of the GOP

Nobody I know is against gay marriage, but there are people who think Unions and taxes are the root of all evil and stuff

If Republicans were to ease themselves out of their social positions, I think they'd win every state. Americans are so conservative when it comes to the issues of taxes, regulation, social spending etc.

I feel like maybe the Democrats have more info on this and reason to be cautious but it seems like they should go full on populist. I think they could even flip a lot of social conservatives in the south by running off a platform of "Christian bumpkins against the wealthy book smart elitists".

I feel like the current strategy seems really condescending to voters. Instead of it being the 99% vs. the 1% it sounds like the 1% telling people how to live.

Or put another way, so far gone and programmed by the Progressives to not see the ill effects of one party rule for two decades now in the Cali legislature.

The GOP gave up on the state long ago on the electoral front, and with that, isn't a priority. There's a handful of decent ones (Tom McClintock for one), but overall locally the R's are a feckless bunch with little spine.

Those billions in unfunded pension liabilities are all on the D's and the hits just keep coming with old as dust Jerry Brown backhanding the unions again. The Bay Bridge fiasco would make the Mafia blush.
