you haven't insulted me in the slightest, because if you were, they make no sense or had no relevance to me or how this "conversation" is going.

again, you're sharing info with me that does not benefit this discussion, my life or even yourself. what is it that you're doing and do have to do with atheists, creationists, agnostists or anything?

i do find it interesting that there are people that have a huge aversion to the word agnostic and insist that being an agnostic is somehow straddling the fence on the issue, which i don't agree with. but hey, to me it's just more high horsing of being too intelligent or prideful to stoop to such a low level as to consider that maybe science and "god" converge at some point and in fact, they do as far as our society goes. atheists are walking around actively following biblical doctrine. i guess you can agree with biblical things, and concepts such as morality as an atheist but my standpoint is if you are an atheist the concept of morality needs to be be defined much deeper than "being a decent person" shit which is all based on religious tenants and fear of repercussions. if the only thing keeping people from being "evil" is a law or societal norm, to me that just shows how huge an impact religion has had on atheists whether they care to admit it or not. my argument has been that if you are going to define your beliefs one way at least admit that you are still following and agreeing with beliefs based on things jesus said and god stuff. if they weren't all atheists would be in jail. i liken it to people who claim to be anarchists yet participate in society where they feel necessary and only voice their beliefs on it because they have the "freedom" to do so. i rarely see anyone practice what they preach and am pretty much saying both sides of the fence have serious issues and contradictions left and right. christians use science. scientists have faith. there are creationist scientists, there are big bang people, there is just a real mixed bag of shit.

it's an interesting stance people take when agnostics disagree with atheists and creationists and everyone just hates the shit out of everyone because HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE?

The universe is mostly empty space and is crazily gigantic while we're nothing in comparison to its vastness, life evolved through a process where it literally had to cannibalize itself, the Earth is a cesspool of suffering, prayer and miracles don't ever manifest themselves in an observable way, there are hundreds of thousands of gods and they're all clearly made up by humans

Some of the reasons a creator is unlikely....

The more we learn about the universe the more we see that random chance is the only real God

It's still true that unicorns can exist somehow. And bigfoot as well. It's extremely unlikely, but there's just no possible way to know. This doesn't mean that it's logical to go around saying "maybe unicorns exist maybe they don't 50/50"

Well if you've decided that the odds are less than 50/50, without knowing what constitutes evidence for that likelihood, you might also embrace scientific discoveries as evidence that a creator is unlikely, whether or not it is...in the same way that a theist/deist might dismiss the same evidence as evidence against...

I finally had time to read this... These are the same thoughts I have. It's part of how I ended up becoming religious, realls. I really couldn't find any alternatives that motivated me. Either I'm a servant of god or I'm a servant of my genes and sexual reproduction in a meaningless and chaotic universe. It's not even worth being alive or having thoughts or anything because I'm so insignificant. Yeah . Etc.

I think you really should seek help before it's too late. You're knee deep in your addiction and it's only going to get worse over time if you don't come to a realization and deal with it. What have you got to lose? Lifes a beautiful and spiritual thing and you should be thankful that you're a species that just so happens to be at the top of the food chain and has the brain capacity to realize how mesmerizing the universe is. Lifes short and life is a magical thing... You just have too many things clouding your judgment in order to realize this.

You know in your heart that what you're doing is wrong and that you're leading a life of a person that you know deep down isn't really you. The first step is the hardest, yet in actuality the easiest. Drugs aren't your answer.

Seek therapy help from psychology text-books if you can't afford therapy or rehab. Your life may be in shambles, but if you don't put in a solid effort of fixing it, nobody will.

So pretty much you're a Christian because you're scared of a world with no God so you force yourself to believe in one.

Most psychological models assert that beliefs, motivation and action are interdependent...so... It's not that strange really...

The only not strange reason to believe something is the existence of some sort of logical reasoning.
"It motivates me" is not a logical reason to believe something. Things are true or untrue regardless of how we feel about them.

I hope I will be a millionaire one day. I do not believe that I will be though

Yes and no. We all have plenty of beliefs that motivate action, that have nothing to do with logic. We're not creatures of pure logic - most of us anyway. Those on te autism spectrum, and psychopaths/ sociopaths are notable exceptions I guess....

And it's a two way street... Actions affect beliefs as well as beliefs affecting action.

Reading the bible every day will change your beliefs in as much as it will change your thoughts by introducing new/different material. I find this happens to me a lot - if I read the bible regularly, I think a lot more about God and the possibility that God exists seems slightly higher, just because it's on my mind.

Human minds just seem to be wired up that way - I know that in therapy, unhelpful mental behaviours are dealt with by actively shifting my mind's focus into other ideas, because the more you think about something, the more likely your mind is to flag it as something important, and the easier it will be to fall into a pattern of thinking about it over and over again.

A lot of people with mental health issues or a psychology background will of heard of that phenomenon as 'ruminating'...

1 timothy 2

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
