Yeah, most of the time it usually isn't worth it. If I recall correctly, the commission can get up to like 45-50% if you sell enough, and if you keep selling $450 knife sets I guess it could add up, but I couldn't be bothered to stick around that long. But maybe ILP's husband has found his calling. It'll be interesting to see how long he lasts.

The town I live in is so small the gas is negligible. And he was given a free starter kit to take to the demonstrations instead of having to pay for the usual set. I'd rather him have a more predictable job too, but right now anything coming in at the end of the week is gonna help. We are used to hustling up enough scratch to meet the days needs, rinse repeat. It's wearing me out, I live with 4 other people.

If a job sounds like an easy way to make money, and yet they're hiring almost anybody, then you can be sure it's a scam.

He'll probably need to start looking outside of your town eventually. How did the rest of his sales go today?

I mean, I get it. I knew it was too good to be true, but at the time I was having a hard time finding a job in my college town. Also, that one conference I went to was full of 16 and 17 year old kids doing the job. I guess they're probably more easily enticed by the "easy money", and the little bit they can make is probably more than they'd be making otherwise. I probably would have fallen for it a lot harder at 16 too.

Several young people that I know got looped into various forms of salesmen scams. The most hilarious one being the one where you don't actually sell the product but rather you sell other people the ability to sell the product so that in reality no one is actually selling the product.

There's always a few people who make a killing but the odds are only slightly better than winning the lottery. You never hear about the people who dropped the initial fee and then quit because that's not interesting enough so it seems as if it's easy money and that everyone should be doing it.

I knew a guy who quit the military to sell other people the ability to sell other people the ability to sell skin cream. Quit one scam to sign up for another...

It's a great opportunity for the like, 5% of salespeople who can make it one. Was it a great opportunity for me? No. Was it a great opportunity for someone like my supervisor? I can't speak for him today, but when I worked for him 5 years ago, the dude was my age, had a brand new car paid off and could afford to live on his own without roommates or anything. So yeah, for him I'd say it was a pretty good opportunity. Did I want it to be a good opportunity for me? Yeah, who wouldn't. Like I've said before, if you're into that thing, it can be lucrative. But the reality of it is that the majority of the people who enter into it eventually peter out.

I actually think it's less than 5%

And every job is a great opportunity for 5% of people. If you started working at McDonald's you'd probably have a 5% chance of making it to a management position that made good money.

Opiates and hallucinogens helped snap me out of anorexia. I don't know what my mind would do if I stopped all the things I get pleasure from, seems awful. I cross-addict a lot :| My arms look like I left them in a beehive though...this is why I don't think Jimmy did that much heroin. Sometimes I shake so bad I can barely fix the hit. How the fuck could he drum with shit like that going on?! It's still better than endless degrading thought loops....and no pain is a fabulous thing. I just wish I didn't crave it so bad. I would have so much money if I didn't spend $30-$60 on it every day, as a bare minimum. I can easily go through $150 a day if I find the money, and wish I did.

The amount of money I've pulled from thin air is astonishing. I don't think anyone who isn't motivated by a drug addiction could find and then blow so much cash.

is there some kind of psychological condition that accounts for someone being so matter-of-fact that's-so-raven about being a drug addict like it's just a thing to do

yeah, elphy, instead of crying to music from decades ago, you could be having sex with three guys at the same time.
