Well if your union doesn't help, you could sue. I don't know what the laws are in the USA though.

Yeah, there's no machine. For whatever reason nobody was picking up the phone that morning. I've worked in multiple parts of the store and I've seen the phone be ignored all the time.
Plus after like an hour of calling someone picked up amd put me on hold and then no one picked up. Which means that the people up front picked up and were like "Call on line 5 for manager" and the manager just ignored it.
I've seen them do that too.

In CA and much of the States there's no law covering any of this. It's the whole At-will thing.

I remember that thread, but I don't remember it being about me fucking around at work. It's more like I think you've got this vision of what I'm like in your head and you read all my posts with it. I remember that thread about Mcd being about how hilariously bad a job that was and how everyone who worked there was on drugs because I lived in a pretty poor area at the time.

Most of the time nobody even notices if you're late, they aren't concerned with other people's schedules.

I've been in a situation where I had to stay extra hours or had to do someone else's work because someone didn't come in for whatever reason. I don't complain about it.

Work is so much more bearable for everyone when people are chill

i've been in a management role for about a year and i'm finally coming to terms with the true scope of the job and the skills it requires to it well. i've had a few great managers in the past but i just naïvely assumed it was because they were great people. nope. they were dûnyain

What's bullshit is that my managers have been directly violating contract left and right and we the employees are cool with cutting them slack over it. And they return the favor by firing people.

Like they're required to post the schedule at a certain time and they're usually late and they change the schedule In a way that Isn't allowed. They don't provide the safety equipment that's required. They require people to do work that's above their pay grade to save money. They scare people into working off the clock by giving them crazy work loads. They hide things from health and safety inspectors. They have baggers get carts for more than the maximum
of two hours they're allowed in a day

The list goes on.
