Nobody fat, man or woman, should wear very tight clothing though, that's for sure.

But also, no one should wear lululemon.

and with this I surely endeared myself even more to scotty.

My girlfriend wanted to get a job there over the summer.

That pretty much sums it up.

If any guys here are into fashion and/or need to dress well for whatever purposes I highly recommend Trunk Club. I joined a few months back and they are great. Pricey but very good at what they do.

See that's funny cause i don't remember that but I do think you're remembering it right. I think I was like that but didn't realize it and didn't realize that's what was so offputting to some people (now I do of course)

I think i'm mainly remembering my very early forum days when I just really wanted to be liked and was kind of a whiny wimpy almost-hippy type.... I was so new to the interwebs then. I'd had it for maybe like 6 months if even. I honestly think you might be the first person who ever confronted me about anything online. At least the first i remember. I didn't realize how good I had it then because I didn't yet know that most people who would get into arguments with me on the interwebs would in majority be complete morons (well I mean more than I am). Then again with them you don't have to argue much anything, they tend to just kinda sink their own boat.

i'm basing your cumudgeonlyness off of being astonished that you refused to see the LOTR movies on account of the fact that it would be different than what you imagined and it would ruin that connection you had with the book

Women are usually more into shopping for clothes (they don't need), so you'd think the stores would try to make the customers as comfortable as possible.
Good employees who actually know the difference between fabrics, the music not on a volume that you immediately want to run, a nice store design. But no.

I feel more comfortable in menswear stores. They have all of that, maybe because it's harder to keep guys in it for longer than 5 minutes. The only womenswear stores I can tolerate are small boutique type shops, but there are less and less of them.

tl;dr - looking for men's clothes is more enjoyable.

They send you clothes based on your measurements, conversations with your personal designer, and other factors like season, needs relating to lifestyle, etc.

I have a few custom-made suits. I wish they were easier to get here. I default to Charles Tyrwhitt usually for suits.

pave if you want boutiques you need to get out to some of these hiptropolises like austin or brooklyn or portland or whatever, they're a dime a dozen and change every six to nine months

Boutiques are horrible tho because they pressure you for a sale straight away, because most of them have a lower turnover - as much as it pains me to say it, I get all of my clothes from department stores because they're big enough to carry major designers and affordable lines, have roomy dressing rooms, and are usually busy enough that you can browse undisturbed, until you want help. And you can get everything in the one spot - so if you need makeup or shoes, or a bra, or swimmers & a beach towel, or even a frying pan or a toaster, you don't have to waste a couple of days looking for it all - just one afternoon in the one store and you can get everything. And they're usually in a mall so if things need to be altered you can drop them off on the way to the car park.

Somehow that hardly ever happens to me. If I don't go in for a specific item (THIS jacket in medium) I say straight away that I'd like to look around to get an idea. Usually they don't bother me then unless I ask something.

that never happens to you because this is yet another example of vixnix extending probably one experience in her life into some kind of universal truism and ultimately has more to do with her own personal unhappiness and insecurity than anything observant about the world around her

no, I'm kidding...I consider even an initial approach sales pressure though. It makes me uncomfortable to look around a store if I'm the only one in there, and the salesperson is right there in the same feckin' space, not obviously busy with actual work. And if I stay longer than a couple of minutes then they approach again...it's so awkward when I'm trying to the mad calculations of quality vs. affordability vs. item longevity vs. budget accountability and that's without even trying it on. Argh.

Not that I've been in a store like that for ages, Trots is right. To dosed up on mood drugs to care about how much I'm eating, to be anywhere near boutique stores!

they're actually helping themselves...to my money. I don't need their help! I'm fine working things out for myself. And if I did need help I wouldn't ask for it from someone with a vested interest in me spending money... :/
