i heard this song several years ago (i guess when it came out?). i fell asleep in front a television and was woken up by it. i watched the whole video then went to sleep in my bed and had this song stuck in my head for days. i forgot all about it but it's now on my mp3 and discovered it's ideal for running (steady and bumping tempo to match a stride). what am i gonna do? |

That was my favourite single/video too! Much better than Gay Bar and Voltage, IMO

But then my all time favourite of theirs is "I Buy the Drugs", which I posted earlier

Like early Modest Mouse with a Neutral Milk Hotel streak a mile wide. I know that probably sounds like thousands of garbage bands you've heard since 98 but really this is great. |

Man I wish I could still enjoy ITAOTS but I just overdid it when I first got into them and the songs just kinda pass me by without noticing now. I've always wanted to do a really menacing vaguely BM arrangement of Oh Comely. That swelling chord progression is the business.

I've been on a serious Paul Kelly bender lately. Is he known/well known outside of Australia? He's sorta considered here to be our equivalent of Bob Dylan, kinda the voice-of-the-people poet/songwriter. |

I was going to say Naomi was my favorite On Avery Island song, but A Baby for Pree/Where You'll Find Me Now are just as good. I agree, it's a great album, but it's hard not to overlook it because ITAOTS is a masterpiece.

always thought this song sounded so Texan rock and just realized a few days ago (although I heard it in '03 initially; thanks youtube comments) it's the singer from The Toadies so that makes sense. |
