Seems like there's also the ranting then the eventual contrite "self-appraisal" of being off balance, then a return to more ranting.
This is accompanied by lots of resolutions to "stay out of the drama" only to be followed by more drama-inducing statements.

I think it's basically attention-seeking behavior. She may consider it "exposure" for her new venture.
just a year or so ago she did talk about working past the delusion that she'd become an "e-celebrity" -- I think that ulterior motive (perhaps not consciously) is still there.
(she did, recently, refer to game SW development as "show biz" -- while it's an entrainment industry. I would hesitate to call SW dev "show biz")

I feel bad for those who contributed to the kickstarter expecting their premuim of console devices - I seriously doubt they will see a refund in a timely manner (Devi Ever is NOT pursuing a stable job, just her new art projects)

(one misconception people have...the kickstarter funding recipient is REQUIRED to come through on premiums that are offered OR refund....it's not a speculative gamble like some people think.)

i ran into her a few times where she was still a he and living in round rock/austin. she 'produced' a friend's band. she was absolutely an attention grasper even then. she has moderate artistic ability however she isn't terribly talented or original. she seems to feel that simply by being 'herself' that should be enough to suffice living the life of, and being paid as, the most successful artists in the world.

I did have a chance to talk with a couple of people who haven't been refunded and it look like ne big problem people are having is that she isn't really looking for work, but is just doing game art and tweeting about being broke, ordering pizza and playing games.
I don't know if that is a majority, or even significant minority of people though - but it does tend to make me question her side of things as she did say she was going to work day and night to settle accounts, but that doesn't appear to be happening.

Well, I suppose there is the sense of wild-child implosion. She's changed the big project she's pushing a few times in just the last few weeks -- including the revenue model ("game pack", "season pass", single game 'early access'). It looks like panic moves...the trashing around of someone drowning
What makes me feel really bad about it is that it looks like she's struggling to avoid a 'day job' (she tweeted about that) . That sucks because that means she's not really "working day and night" like she said she would to get people who trusted her their money back. She's trying to avoid getting a job (I assume because it's not 'fun' enough)

I mean remember when she here for like 3 months and posted incessantly and people positively reinforced it because they were enamored by someone who ran a boutique pedal business? And then people sent her real, actual money for slightly modded Big Muffs? I don't know why anyone would send her money for anything that they weren't 100% sure already existed. she was shady from the beginning, talking shit about her clients with whom she had business relationships, with some sort of expectation of keeping them? not sure what's going on with her, but it goes beyond gender dysphoria.

Interesting parallel. In looking up Amanda Palmer, I noticed that Devi Ever was auctioning off a glass dildo owned by one Amanda Palmer. (It reminds me a little bit of the movie slacker where the woman is trying to sell Madonna's pap smear).

It looks like Amanda caught some heat for putting together some kind of tour where she'd get paid, but local support musicians were supposed to just play for the honor of playing with her.
It does kind of fit in with that whole 'my product is my indie-ness' cult of personality thing you guys have been talking about a bit.

whole thing sounds like she's really thinking internet celebrity is a goal because she made billy act like a dickhead and amanda palmer is her dildo goddess or whatever

i thought it was kind of overblown if all he said was he/she (in regards to trans slurs). i know youre supposed to address transgenders by their gender specific pronouns but its kind of like calling a little person a midget. most people don't know droves of the demographic to be "aware" in all situations

Yeah, Corgan probably shouldn't have wigged out at all. It really sounded like a pretty minor issue for him.

It looks like Devi Ever really IS about the drama. I heard that she wigged out and rage quit pretty much the whole internet only to return with the "Oh, I was in a bad head way" a few hours later.
That's, apparently, her pattern...rage quit (or get kicked off) forums, come back hat-in-hand, rinse repeat.

I think meltdown era Corgan and meltdown Devi Ever have some things in common...the rift is a focus point, but the stuff pre- and post- rift really highlights the similarities between them.
